Advice Please
I'd probably put another 24 port patch panel between the UDM-SE and the core switch. Yes, you want an SE for the flexibility, and there are lots of good uses for those ports. Low-bandwidth uses for UDM-xxx 8 port integral switch Also has good discussion of the technical shortcomings of the 8 port AI

Newbie Home setup
I just bought a house with a Hikvision setup, and asked about it in a couple places. You should take a look at the responses. Same question, two subs. Just bought a house that came with a Hikvision camera system. What do I need to know? at r/Hikvision Just bought a house that came with a Hikvision c

Does this cart make sense? Any recs for power supply? (EU)
In general consider: Aftermarket half-size server racks. They can be had for like 150€ on average. It is the most tedious job in the planet to migrate from one rack to a new rack. And you can also run non networking gear if you get full lenght one, so you can put your servers also there. Dont forget

Long time network engineer but first time with Ubiquiti, need to design an HQ network with a few hundred people on it wired and WiFi
Yeah, that last bit about no controller's the only thing that really stood out to me, as well. Also, if you're going to add video surveillance through Ubiquiti, additionally add a standalone NVR. The Unifi Protect app when recording multiple cameras draws substantial CPU use on a Dream Machine SE, a

Hey /r/Sysadmin! What do you use for your home router? 2026 Edition
Just picked up a Ubiquiti UDM-SE from Marketplace. Loving how easy it is to configure. The cool network topology is fun to watch too.

Mesh systems for stronger home internet coverage in 2026?
ubiquiti is the go-to for mesh systems. In their good gear, the router/gateway and access points are independent from each other, allowing for upgrade of the wifi network separate from the router. They use POE+ for the access points - so like look at a UDM SE and hardwiring a couple AP's in mesh. Yo

New To Home Networking
Whenever someone says 'stumbled' and associated with UniFi. My first reaction is to recommend reading upon the product line or help articles: store.ui.com https://techspecs.ui.com/ https://help.ui.com/hc/en-us I use the UDM-SE and for home use. I find it the best for home use as its a Gateway, switc

Have you ever had a Ubiquiti product have a hardware failure? How do you plan for such a contingency?
My UDM-SE died in January, while I was out of town. It's at home so it wasn't a super huge deal (although the websites I host were all down) but my big worry was my wife. She's tech savvy enough to at least grab a spare ethernet cable and plug the Phillips Hue hub into the AT&T Fiber router itself s

UDM‑SE vs USW‑Pro‑Max‑16‑PoE
Well you need a router to make the network functional. You also need a unify controller, the UDM-SE has one built in. But the UDM-SE has a shared back plane for all of its ethernet switch ports. So they all share bandwidth, not a good thing to use as the center of a network. Like I said before, you

RJ45 Plug Recommendation and Datacabinet
Thanks for the details. So I am pretty new to Ubiquiti and I had bought a UDM SE after my connection went tits up and was frustrated with not having a stable connection but it sat in the box for a bit, around 10 months to be precise, along with the UAP-AC-PRO (WiFi 5) which at the time I didn't thin
