Is $49.99 for Cogeco 1 Gig a good loyalty deal, or should I have taken 1.5 Gig?
If you only use their router, don't bother going more than a gig. The ~600 Mbps on WiFi, you'll always see even if you got the 2 gig or even 1.5 gig. I do have Cogecos Sagemcom modem with its 2.5 gig port... it is bridged (Sagemcom basically acting as a classic modem) to a TP-LINK BE550 it has all 2

City Fibre Router suggestions?
I've got the BE550, no issues with it whatsoever. Currently running it with Nufibre and on 2.3Gbps symmetrical. Ethernet speed tests max that out without a hitch and WiFi 7 can hit around 1.5Gbps down, 2Gbps up. Running a NAS off of one port, a dedicated torrent PC off of another and a home mesh kit

BE550 USB speed
for me i get 81MB up and 122MB down from that drive over ftp to the be550 usb 3 port one transfer at a time. in my pc the external hdd goes at 122MB max. so for some reason this router maxes out SMB or samba windows file transfers at around 6MB which is well below the max you would see from usb 2 wh

ASUS RT-BE92U 1 Year On
Not a long term review, but I replaced a TP BE550 with the RT-BE92U two weeks ago. I installed Merlin right away because I had a good experience with it on AX86U. I had issues with the WAN port auto-negotiated the port speed every hour which led to frequent drops (Telus Fiber ONT 10G port > BE92U 2.

Archer BE550 ethernet LAN port 1 issues
After the disaster i faced with fw1.2.2 and the constant speed instability on file copies through mesh (nas to pc) with fw1.2.3 i have reverted back to 1.2.1, unplugged everything from lan 1 on both routers as it caused periodic connection loss, moved mesh backhaul to lan 2 as lan 4 was lagging (not

Archer BE550 ethernet LAN port 1 issues
what version and firmware is your be550? For v1.x routers many firmwares caused lan port problems (1.1.2, 1.1.3, 1.2.2 and some reports for 1.2.3) what status do you see for lan1 in your router’s interface when a device is connected? Also do check if link aggregation under lan settings is disabled a

USB Drive Download Only
Doesn't tplink have its own format you could try? I don't know about what macos can do. I should warn you though, while I don't have your model, I can tell you that my be550 v2 only writes at 6-7MB / 50mb to the USB 3 over samba while with ftp it's a ton faster. So I dunno if yours will be faster or
