Advice on Nas?

If you want to go for a NAS and run Docker/VMs go for Ugreen, much better hardware and you can always customise and install an OS of your choice. Synology used to be good but not anymore also the hardware on the 423 is very old compared to the new Ugreen stuff. Disclaimer: I’m still running a Synolo

I rsync all of plex-media-server data to the docker folder I created on this new pc an

Home-Server/Home-Storage/Cloud

A NAS definitely can run backend services and databases in containers - the issue is how efficiently it does so. A weak CPU (try to get x86, not ARM) and HDD storage instead of SSD will likely cause slow performance and frustration. especially in terms of databases. But, honestly, i’d suggest diggin

State of UGreen vs Synology

Hardware: The DS925+ is a "downgrade" to the DS923+. No option for 10GbE anymore. The DS4800 plus/pro has 1x10GbE. While Synology now allows 3rd party HDDs in their x25+ series, I think 3rd party NVMEs are still restricted (cache or pool?), but I could be wrong about this. Ugreens hardware offering
