NAS
I've done the DIY, holy fuck does a Synology NAS just remove all the hard bullshit from your plate. Highly recommend just starting there. I've got the DS 423, it's been bulletproof.

Very Impressed with Immich!
Thanks for your feedback, very much appreciated :)! Yea, I realized that any serious bulk upload from mobile app is somewhat hard, there are quite a few posts/threads about that scattered here and there on reddit and other boards. I think there is some room for improvements for the devs, we shall se

PMS on pc or NAS?
I use a Syno DS423+ with Intel Celeron J4125 CPU (a 2019 CPU with Intel QuickSync capable iGPU). I have PlexPass. I think it's fantastic. I have 5 AppleTV devices around the house, and I share this out with perhaps five other frequent users and 5 other infrequent users. I have 100mbps up and gigabit

Wanting a small 2-bay setup for a home server between my Mac and Windows computers
So something like the Synology DS423 or the Ugreen DXP4800 Plus? I like Ugreen for their cables, but I don’t know how their proper devices hold up against Synology. Willing to consider both, but I see so many models, it’s difficult to really know what I want.

Update on the photo card appearance
I installed the application, but I can't log in to my NAS [DS423+ DSM 7.2.2-72806] its shows red warn (Cannot reach synology at the provided URL), this happens both on the local network and on the remote network (tailgate) in both protocols it is the same error. The connection works with other apps.

Recommendations for a KISS NAS
When I was in a similar situation, running Plex on my DS916+ became frustrating, I opted to just run Plex on a Dell 3060 USF and just use NAS as a NAS. It has let me put money into bigger drives instead of replacing a working chassis. I have never seen a point to the 2 chassis NAS and always suggest

DIY Unraid vs turnkey NAS in 2026: still worth the build?
I’ve had the gamut, from Windows servers, Unraid servers, and Synology boxes. If you just want to serve files, have an always on way to backup your network of devices, run a great Plex server, handle HomeKit and other home automations, and run a mountain of containers, the Synology DS423+ / DS425+ w

Simple Cloud Storage Solution - Poll
I hosted a DIY NAS for several years, and it became more babysitting than I wanted. (Admittedly, it was because of my OS choice and strategy.) About 2 years ago, I purchased a Synology DS423+ 4-bay NAS, and haven't looked back. With local backups (Active Backup for Business), external backups (Hyper
