New AR owner looking for advice
For a sling, I recommend the Blue Force vicker’s padded sling. Super reliable, easy to use, and a common manual of arms. For lights, I’d recommend Streamlight as a good middle level quality/price option. If you may need the light outdoors, go for a high candela version like the ProTac HL-X with 1k lu

I never should've been given a credit card or a vise bench. Now I can't stop
The 16" and 11.5" both use the Streamlight ProTac HL-X, and the 18" uses a Streamlight ProTac 2. I'd recommend the HL-X (or HL-X Pro) since it's much more powerful while still being pretty decently priced, abt 120 bucks on Amazon last I checked

Just a heads up, Somogear restocked the wmx200.
My thoughts exactly and so far I’ve heard all positive things about it, especially for being what it is. Slightly better output than a pro tac hl-x and not dropping the coin for a surefire, I mean you cant go wrong. Hell I might even pick up one for their ngal’s to test out since I’m entering the wo

I built this Glock 22 for $250
From what I understand, the first gen GTL is cheeks compared to GTL II or basically any other WML, it's like comparing a candle to a ProTac HL-X. Apparently it's super durable though.

How much lumens is too much lumens? What about Candela?
Yeah the DFT is pretty wild indoors. It also doesn’t illuminate full rooms as well as a wider pattern. I prefer my Streamlight HLX indoors. It’s a very bright light in its own right, despite not having anywhere near the insane candela of the DFT. OTOH, remember if the reflection is blinding for you,

Streamlight vs Surefire
Streamlight makes excellent pistol lights (TLR-1 variants for full sized and TLR-7 variants for compact) and decent rifle lights (ProTac 2.0 and ProTac HL-X) Surefire makes excellent rifle lights (640 and 340 variants) and decent pistol lights (X300 variants for full sized) Surefire: Made in USA $$$

Streamlight TLR RM1 or RM2
No I’ve swapped out the RM2 for a ProTac HLX, the RM2 now sits on one of my ARs Usability wise I quite liked it when usng the pressure switch on the light. I mounted it 11:00 for support hand activation. Brightness wise no complaints, even balance of flood and throw, you have a circle for some flood

Strobe Question
I have the Fenix PD 36r it works great but I don’t like how the switch feels sloppy but I do like the high low and lock positions. A lot of the fenix lights have side buttons that I don’t care for on previous lights I have had. the new 36r pro looks better to me more straight forward tail witch that

Remember when MagLites were thought to be really strong and bright?
My current EDC is a 6 year old Streamlight ProTac HL-X. I love it and it fits neatly in my front left pocket. It’s got 1000 lumens on high. Beats the chit out of Maglight, but no more useful as a compliance tool than a decent tactical pen.
