People said the same thing about the FX3 in regards to the A7SIII. Swapped my A7IV for the FX2 on day 1 and it has been worth every penny. I think a big part of the hate is that people were wanting that announcement to be for an FX3ii… Which I still don’t see why anyone thinks Sony would release an

Don't feel bad because the FX2 isn't actually worth the price. The FX3 is still a better camera after half a decade. No idea what Sony is even fucking doing

i ran into this same dilemma last year. sony typically announces new cameras in spring or fall, so waiting could be 6+ months. the fx3 is still a beast for cinema work and that 24-70 gm ii will hold value. if you need a camera now for your msc projects, just get it. the mark ii rumors are just specu

yes definitely, especially the sony FX3, it is the best value cinema camera. full frame, sonys massive e mount lens selection, netflix approved, all in a normal camera body, unlike the FX6 and FX9 which are more like the one in the post

There is also a huge inbetween. Between an arri and his older sony. Like a fx3 or 30 plus nice fotp lens. Wich would be a fraction of an arri to rent.

For the 800-1300 range, the best you can find might be a GH5. Buy a used one, really (verify it works and all etc..), it's still a workhorse with some surprising capacities and quite clear (like indicating the bitrate of the footage, that you will not find on old canon's) AND you'll be able to expan

I tend to buy second hand cameras when the price hits an sweetspot. Like fx9 is about 4000-5000€ - that’s little more than a new fx3. When fx3 is about 2000€ / fx30 1000€ —> that’s all the pure bargain for cameras that will be workhorses for next 10 years. Same with canon c70/c300/c500 line. They ar

The FX3 is still as good as it gets. The thing is it's getting quite old. So not sure if it's still the best buy. Do you want to stick to Sony? If you're a solo shooter then Lumix has a very nice line of new cams. That means switching glass of course. But L-mount is getting really good with loads of

i feel you on this one because i passed on the fx3 twice myself before finally getting it. here is the thing - you already said filmmaking is the main goal and you have wanted the fx3 for years. that feeling does not go away. the a7v will do both fine but every time you shoot video you will wonder w

What I look for in a camera : - Lenses : cheap/expensive, fits my needs? Looks good ? Dont fall in the samyang or sony trap. Samyang trap is that the first time you touch a samyang cine lens feels like a revolution (and an expensive lense). It is not, and it's generally bad, especially paired with s
