anyone else think the fujifilm camera naming is a shitshow?

The Sony Aps-c naming convention is awful but it works like this: Entry level: a6000 (2014) replaced by a6100 (2019) Midrange: a6300 (2016) replaced by a6400 (2019) Enthusiast: a6500 (2016) replaced by a6600 (2019) One aps-c to rule them all: a6700 (2023) That’s how you get an a6400 that’s newer tha

Got yelled at by the locals

It’s so worth it! I got my first camera, a Sony A6300 with the kit lens, back when I finally decided an iPhone was no longer good enough and I haven’t looked back. Really the biggest issue with photography as a hobby is gear acquisition syndrome is real…. Small point and shoots have kind of stagnate

Choosing my system, M43 or APS-C, and what lens?

Sony has a very large lens ecosystem. it's a great system to start on as you can try a lot of different focal lengths for relatively low costs, and you can usually find a lot of stuff for pretty cheap used. until you really know what you like and dislike, I think Sony is a great place to be. A6300 w

Is rolling shutter really a big deal?

In short, don't worry about it. To elaborate: Your time is better spent on learning lighting and color, IMO. Lack of rolling shutter is one of those features which is not as important as people think it is. It's noticeable only in fast pans, shaky action cam and strobe lights. How often are you shoo

What is the best camera for a beginner?

Used Sony a6300 or something like that with a nice budget prime (fixed length lens like a sigma 30mm 1.4) giving you a natural sense of depth and scale in a photo similar to your human eye, or a zoom with a 2.8 aperture can give you something that offers a bit more creative control compared to a kit

What makes you enjoy using your camera so much?

Very good question. Tbh, I am not sure, what it makes it for me. From the end of 2012, the Canon 5D MkIII was my workhorse and I used several bodies parallel for weddings and studio work. I loved the versatility of the cameras and was able to control it without looking at it. I had this feeling of i

FX3 or FX30?

Started with an A6300 too. Upgraded to an A7c later and using the FX3 for a year now. Depends on your budget & needs: I personally love the body design and its good / fun to use. But I also like to rig out my FX3 if needed. All the extra stuff costs tho. For the price difference of the FX3 vs FX30 y

Bought a mint Canon AE-1 on FB for $100

I'm hoping this camera functions great and I can use it sometimes for fun, but mainly I wanted a camera that can be trusted to work in Auto/Aperture mode for my wife and daughter. The Sony A6300 i have hasn't been off the shelf in months so I dont have a simple way for them to take pictures if we're

Is it worth it to buy a camera instead of using your phone one? I think my phone Has quite good quality but i'm also debating if i should buy a proper camera or not. If i should, can you recommend me which one? I will show my pictures below

Do you want a camera because you just want better images? Or do you want a camera because you enjoy using one? Do not buy a camera with the expectation that you images will be better right away. There is going to be a learning curve and if you do not enjoy using a camera, you might not stick around
