Ricoh’s GR IV launches in September for a much steeper price than its predecessor. What was a $900 camera in 2019 is now a $1,500 one in 2025.

I understand the appeal of the form factor, but these prices are just ridiculous now. You can get a full frame Sony A7C and a lens for the same price as this (Yes, I know the A7C is older, but still.)

Worth the switch?

Right, as a fellow Sony 20-70 f/4 owner and M43 shooter, let me share my thoughts… I own the Sony A7C (so, a step up from your A7II) along with the 20-70 f/4, plus a few other lenses. I also have an OM-5 paired with the 12-45 f/4 Pro. When I bought the Sony 20-70 f/4, my intention was to replace the

Sony A7C vs a6700 -- is it worth the extra money?

If you want a more compact setup, need more reach (wildlife, birding), plan to shoot video or use third-party strobes - get A6700. It's arguably the best APS-C on the market, and it is great. The sensor readout speed is amazing for video, and it has a proper full-mechanical shutter so you won't have

Can you guide me to an alternative portable camera for travel?

The problem is unless you go with the Fuji medium formal camera it's line-up have cropped sensors. So while you want "something nice and light for photo", are you OK with that? You were impressed with the Sony A7C. but it's a full frame sensor. Sound like ideally your backup camera is an R8. Did you

from Sony to Fuji

As someone who went from an A7c to an X-T30 mk i, I have not regretted it one bit. Plus, the x-T30 is quite behind when it comes to autofocus, however I have been able to make it work just fine, even while photographing moving kids Fuji also helped me understand color in a way that has truly transfo

ZR metering…? Help!

I think you’re missing the point though; grey means it is clipping so there is no data. If there was data then you’d be able to edit the color down to what you wanted. This isn’t B&W, your color perception/depth/feel changes drastically by how bright/dark it is, not just saturation. Film is a lot mo

Sony A7C vs a6700 -- is it worth the extra money?

If low light shooting is a big deal to you, full frame might be worth the trade-off of being more expensive, and having larger and heavier glass. Which is a real thing and sometimes I wish I had more of an APS-C Sony setup to be smaller and lighter. For the most part you can actually have a pretty c

Are 200MP cameras actually useful now or is it mostly phone marketing?

marketing, always has been. there's a reason why sony's a1 ii is 50mp, nikon's z9 is 45mp, and canon's r1 is 24mp. and there's a reason my a7c ii only has 33mp but still effortlessly beats every single 200mp smartphone

Do you prefer M10/M10R images?

I love my M10-r and chose it because I got a good deal, and at the time the M11 seemed really unreliable. M10-r is a great camera but there is no magic sauce. In Lightroom I don’t find it significantly better/worse than my Sony A7cR or A7RIV. Shooting raw
