Has the Lumix vs Sony debates have gotten weird?

Definitely notice this, I think on the Sony side there's sometimes a fair bit of sunk cost fallacy (or sponsorships) making them defensive to where they feel the need to nitpick and downplay positives in other systems to justify their decisions (nobody is asking them to do so though). Blind brand lo

I'm really thinking about moving from Nikon FF to APSC/Sony FF, this is just ridiculously travel unfriendly

I own the 20mm 1.8S and it is definitely one lens that is ridiculously sized. The image quality is essentially the same as the Sony and the Sony is way smaller. That being said, not all of Nikon's glass is bigger and there is other options like the Viltrox air 20mm. I've often thought about travel c

The ZR booted up like, ‘bro, what is this?’

Great shots! Praying to the photography gods Nikon realizes if they put out a photo-centric in this body format, it could be a potential hit. It would compete with the likes of the Sony A7C series, Lumix S9, probably even Fuji offerings. Stick one of the more compact primes on it - and you have a gr

Worth the switch?

Right, as a fellow Sony 20-70 f/4 owner and M43 shooter, let me share my thoughts… I own the Sony A7C (so, a step up from your A7II) along with the 20-70 f/4, plus a few other lenses. I also have an OM-5 paired with the 12-45 f/4 Pro. When I bought the Sony 20-70 f/4, my intention was to replace the

The Leica look is real (and Hasselblad). You may not need it. But I do.

leica or hassleblad does not do anything to their processing to make them unique so that argument is totally useless. they all use similar if not the same sensors with basically the same amount of processing for the raw files, and any jpeg look you can just edit in. if you put a leica and sony or ha

L10 size vs Pen F

I do genuinely understand some of the criticism; people want a M4/3 camera with all the bells and whistles, that looks stylish, and is something that they can just have in a pocket when they're put and about. I get that; I'd love that myself. But this thing is honestly about as close as you'd get to

Panasonic LUMIX L10 compact camera megathread

Its a little frustrating as Sony have their A7C cameras that are similar sized but have mechanical shutter and so on, but because of the L mount specifications, and Panasonic's substantial IBIS tech, fitting everything in is difficult.I'd take a slightly larger size with mechanical shutter, EVF, hot

Do you think Lumix will release an S9 with mechanical shutter?

I think with what people want with a new S9 they really actually want an S5C aka Sony A7C

Stuck in upgrade paralysis

Why do you need such great ibis for that use case? I switched from Fuji/sony to Nikon, but I’d probably pick a Sony A7C II or an Fujifilm X-T5 for your use case. The Nikon is much heavier.

Would it be overkill to buy the OG Leica Q as my first camera beyond a smartphone?

Buy once, cry once. If the Q is what you want, and you have the money without hurting yourself, just get it. Too many people (including me) know what they actually we want but convince themselves it's "too much" even though they can afford it and it's the right choice for them. Then they get somethi
