Has the Lumix vs Sony debates have gotten weird?

Definitely notice this, I think on the Sony side there's sometimes a fair bit of sunk cost fallacy (or sponsorships) making them defensive to where they feel the need to nitpick and downplay positives in other systems to justify their decisions (nobody is asking them to do so though). Blind brand lo

Do you think Lumix will release an S9 with mechanical shutter?

I think with what people want with a new S9 they really actually want an S5C aka Sony A7C

Moving from Fuji to Lumix (S5 vs S9) for toddler photos & vlogging?

I used both and now have sony a7cii + lumix s9 Do you do pro videography? If not, 8 bit is more than fine and I'd tell you to go for the a7c The s5 is a major downgrade in AF, the s9 AF is still worse than the sony (but good overall) but the build quality feels super cheap and then as you said, no e

Panasonic LUMIX L10 compact camera megathread

Yeah, I don't quite understand—with a large body like this, you'd think it'd have weather sealing AND IBIS. Even the Sony a7c ii body is smaller, with all of the above features.

S9ii Possabilities

Yeah I think the A7C II is a good target, very similar size (with a grip adding most of the extra size) nearly the same weight. The potential challenge is maintaining the superior IBIS performance with the difference in L-mount vs E-mount dimensions. I'd hope the addition of a grip gives them more i

Should I consider buying a camera?

Getting an actual camera is a good idea, although iPhone photography is actually quite underestimated. In your case, since you are learning you should totally get something tactile and manual. And since you travel a lot it should be small, even more if you are used to a phone. But you should definit

Compact recommandations

OM5II is bad value. It is basically the same as the 6 year old EM5III. Get one of those instead. 17/1.8 version 2 is a decent small weather sealed lens. Sony A7C and 35/2.8 or 40/2.5 is also similar in size and mostly outperforms the above, but is a bit more expensive.

Fuji AF compared to old DSLRs

Ah then perhaps you can consider a full frame Sony A7C mk2 or Nikon ZR. They are compact bodies and also offer good video capabilities. The A7C is rangefinder inspired while the ZR is a video centric camera with good stills shooting capabilities as well - ZR has no evf but a huge lcd screen. Both ar

Q: What’s the single best thing AND the single worst thing about the LUMIX S9? Let’s get a discussion going…

For full frame, it really is just Sony a7c cameras. Maybe FX cameras too (haven't held an FX camera before so not really sure). Even the A7IV/V are so small compared to my GH cameras, and weather sealed. I just want basic weather sealing, nothing fancy, in a small body. Maybe one day I'll try out a

LUMIX S9 vs Sony A7C2 vs Fuji XT50

To be honest Fuji recipes are the same. They are not universal unless you use something like Reggie's Portra which basically looks like modified Provia which is standard color profile in Fujis world. I didn't like Panasonic LUTs at first but after some play with Magic Lut and adjusting it afterwards
