It's not about "trying to force" anything on HDR. It's about having a proper accurate SDR-to-HDR tonemap. SDR content shouldn't be messed up just because HDR is enabled in settings. VA native contrast is fantastic. My Odyssey G7 still looks great next to my OLED monitor (except when showing darker elements). IPS native contrast is trash though.

same here, I have a Samsung Odyssey G7, which I think is also not that good with HDR, and even with the calibration tool it washes out the blacks a lot, and in some cases it also affects performance

Ya I got away with it on my Samsung Odyssey G7 1440p 240hz monitor. The contrast on it is so damn good it makes up for it but it's clearly still a compromise.
