External SSD

External with a Gen4 SSD is the golden ticket. Gen5 and you lose the speed gains due to TB5 anyway. Best bet is something like a 980 pro from Samsung and an Acasis TB5 enclosure. You'll maximise the TB5 throughput this way without wasting money on a newer gen5 9100 pro ssd where you wouldn't realise

Just purchased. With prices going up, and the size of GTAVI unknown, this could be a panic buy or a smart move. Like consoles, I'm expecting these to become hard to find in the fall.

I got the 2TB memory card for $90 at the end of 2023 on a clearance deal at Target. And a 2TB Samsung 980 Pro nvme ssd for $70 from Amazon the same week. Considering how much prices have exploded, I consider these some of the best purchases I've ever made.

Мой ссд решил уйти на покой🫡

Короче, если хочешь прям хорошо - Samsung 870 Evo, Kingston KC600 и WD Red SA500. Это по SATA. И Samsung 980 Pro/ 990Pro/ 9100 Pro/ PM9A1/PM9F1/PM9E1, Kingston KC3000/ Fury Renegade, в т.ч. на pci-e5/ WD850X, если хочешь прям хорошие из nvme. Но это дороговато немного, да. Есть ещё кстати Seagate Ir

Samsung and Kingston Hike SSD Prices By 10% Again, Pushing 1TB Drives Past $330 As NAND Shortage Deepens

It’s crazy I bought some SSD drives for $99 in 2022, 2023 M2 NVMe’s Samsung 980 Pro 1TB -$99 Corsair Pro 600 with heatsink -$99 Each drive has gone up today to $287/$294 respectively That’s insane almost a 200% increase for the same size and tech in 2 years time. And several S6 drives, the market ha

First gaming pc build (recommendations or changes appreciated)

If you do buy used, I only recommend buying from eBay under these conditions: Seller has a high rating, 100% positive Seller has a lot of ratings, generally safe number imo is 100+. Be sure to look over their reviews under the "As Seller" tab. Make sure the item has eBay guarantee on it When you rec

Need advice on NVMe SSD upgrade in Sri Lanka

Thank you, that explains a lot. While I had heard fractions abt this, I had no idea the RAM and flash memory situation had pushed prices up this badly. A Samsung 980 Pro 1 TB for 34k sounds amazing compared to current prices 😭

5700X3D + MSI B550: Can't get PCIe 4.0 on NVMe. Stuck at Gen 3 speeds. Is my hardware dead?

I’ve decided to return the Lexar. Since another user with the exact same motherboard is running a Samsung 980 Pro at Gen 4 without issues, it’s clear that this board is extremely picky about signal integrity. It seems the M.2 traces on this MSI model aren't high-quality enough to maintain a stable G

Any advice or anything you'd change?

Dude that Samsung 9100 PRO is complete overkill for gaming, you're dropping £357 on something that'll perform basically the same as a drive costing half that for your use case. PCIe 5.0 is nice to have but games aren't gonna touch those speeds anytime soon I'd swap it for something like a WD SN850X

Any better SSD for ~150€?

The P310 is solid choice for that price range! I got similar one last year and works great in my laptop setup. Maybe check if you can find WD Black or Samsung 980 Pro on sale - sometimes they drop to around 140-150€ and give you bit better performance for future builds 🔥 Just make sure whatever you
