Anyone else experiencing frequent framedrops like these?
I had this to. Apperantly it was not running well with my Lexar NM790 nvme ssd at the moment of the stutters it was spiking to 100% usage with only 55mb/s reading speed. Ive moved the game to my secondary slower Samsung 970 evo plus and now the reads speeds stay high while usage stay low while drivi

4tb + steamOS Xbox ally ready
Consider looking on the used market for Gen3 SSDs (you can bring along an enclosure and a laptop to test the SSD health before handing over the cash). I still run a Gen3 SSD (Samsung 970 Evo) in my desktop PC and all the latest AAA games have zero issues. I really don't care if a loading screen take

Are you buying SSDs now or waiting for prices to drop?
This is exactly why I purchased 4 brand new (2 of each model) 1TB Samsung 970 EVO PLUS & 1TB HK Hynix P31, under $100 each on Amazon promo. First build
If you want PCI-E 5.0, you can get lexar NM990 2TB. But you can also get PCI-E 4.0, Crucial p310 2TB or WD Black SN7100 TB. You can also get a PCI-E 3.0. Samsung 970 Evo Plus 2TB for just 200,- or so. Almost half the price and no difference in gaming speed. Any SSD is good for gaming. The difference

Are t480 really this good?
Probably not. Its not exactly a t480, but I got an i5 t490s recently. It was going for the same price as the t480 lineup and it had 32 gb ram soldered (16+ gigs of sodimm ram costs as much as a whole thinkpad nowadays). I swapped out the drive for a Samsung 970 evo plus and an intel ax210, both of w

upgradable parts?
i upgraded my omen 17's ram and ssd last year and it was totally worth it. the difference in load times and multitasking is huge for like $100. just check if your model uses sodimm slots and m.2 nvme. for ram i went with crucial 16gb ddr4 sodimm and for storage a samsung 970 evo plus. the install to
