970 EVO

Back in early 2023, Samsung 970 Evo Plus 500GB drives were going for under $30. Should’ve bought hundreds.

I read that a lot, but my Samsung 970 EVO 1TB still has only 1% wearout, it's running for about 3 years now. Are only cheap drives affected with low TBW?

Yes, you can do that. But usually, the SSD part of a (former) fusion drive is way too small for that to make sense (32 to 128GB). These sizes might be enough for the system to run but you have to remember the system needs space for cache and stuff. My suggestion: Would be better you buy an SSD like

These are basically considered enterprise class devices these days and price reflects it. DRAM cacheless SSDs are a lot more affordable with write penalties that may legitimately cause

You may be interested in Samsung 970 EVO Plus, WD Blue SN570, or Kingston NV2. Any of the Gen3 NVMe drives will work well, as they are all fast and quite easy to find when compared to Crucial. Just select the one that is the cheapest for you.

6800 is not a high end GPU. It's 2 generations old Mid tier. The 11500 is also a low tier chip. The 850w psu is way oversized. i feel you on this one - same thing happened to my samsung 970 evo after three years. that red highlight usually means the bios sees the drive but can't boot from it. first thing - grab a usb stick and make a bootable hirens bootcd pe on another pc to test the ssd health. samsung magician software c
