Finally got all my stuff for the PS5 Pro, disc drive, dualsense charging station, WD_Black 4TB SSD (returned the SN850X and saved $90 with this one) and finally a hexgaming phantom controller with hall effect sticks and 4 back buttons.
Now I’m starting to save my dollar bills for the PS6

Luckily there are still a lot of options on the SSD market. I have found Samsung's products very unappealing in recent years. Even during the good days when prices were low, a 990 Pro was 15-25% more expensive than a WD Black SN850X and that tendency continued down the stack to the SN7100 vs 990 Evo

Not shocking to anyone following the industry. Building a gaming PC right now is absolute hell as well due to the prices of RAM, SSDs, and GPUs. Motherboard manufacturers are reportedly struggling to sell their inventory as fewer and fewer people are able to afford upgrades to their PCs. Apple, as l

After more than a month of use I’ll write a few lines about the new Mac Mini M4, hoping it can be of help to those who have the same needs as me. I’m a student (engineering) so I tried to find the best solutions for quality/price. I opted for the basic model plus an external SSD. About the monitor,

Verify RAM pricing first, possibly actually buy modules to lock in whatever cost you're considering as "acceptable". DDR5 5600 SO-DIMMs, when I've looked, are far from being "discounted" when you don't already own them. In that situation - Not already owning RAM/being able to get it (actually) cheap

1 TB will fill up quick and it's a DRAM less drive that will use system RAM for cache, making it slower than a drive with DRAM. Otherwise looks good. I'd swap it for a WD Black SN850X 2TB or Samsung 990 Pro (not 990 EVO)

I went with the WD SN850X because it offers faster read/write speeds than the original SN850. Also, you may find an "SN850P" version too, which is identical in performance (it's just a PlayStation rebrand). Finally, I strongly suggest you grab the version with the heatsink as I did for the best temp

Update: Feb 2024: All of this information is still relevant. There are some newer, faster drives on the market such as the Samsung 990 Pro and WD SN850x, but there's no indication that the faster drives impact performance or loading speed. As long as you're buying a Gen 4 SSD with a minimum read sp

Special thanks to Slickdeals for finding this. Apparently the 4TB model is listed also under a separate listing. This is not a repeat of the other SN850x listing. This is its own thing (notice how there's no extra options for 1TB or 2TB models). Shipping/Pickup/Delivery availability will be highly b
