Jonsbo CB80 - Another dual tower cooler that (just barely) fits in the NR200
Respectfully, in the real world he may only see 1-2% of a performance loss with the gpu with PCIE3. For storage SATA SSDs are arguably more than fast enough for the vast majority of games to where there is pretty much no difference between a NVME or SATA and more than fast enough for anything else o

Kingston NV3 1TB SSD for sale
I think the 870 Evo is 2.5" sata drive, tops at abt 550MB/s. But still fucking expensive than an nvme of the same capacity. 😖

Truth
Ext4 is faster. Maybe, maybe not, as usual "it depends". There are those who specifically seek out ZFS for its performance advantages in certain workloads and hardware configurations that Ext4 just cannot do. https://www.saturnme.com/zfs-vs-ext4-a-comprehensive-comparison/ This is not a fair compari

Anyone still using A1278 in 2026?
Yes, for sure! I daily drive a unibody 2012 13” dual core i5. I have upgraded it to 16GB RAM, 500GB Samsung 870 EVO SSD, and a new battery. Updated to Ventura via OCLP and runs SHOCKINGLY well. Like seriously, it’s still damn fast and good at multitasking with relatively heavy stuff.

Looking for a HDD to use in my Tapo H500 hub. What about this one?
Thanks so much for replying. I prefer the performance of SSD too. But the price of SSDs has exploded recently. For example, on Amazon In February 2026, the Samsung 870 EVO 1TB SSD price fluctuated between $103.99 and $179.99. The current price is $449.99. The Seagate 1 TB surveillance rated HDD can

Looking at updating our render computer, What do you recommend?
Before giving up on those cards, you should consider re-pasting the heatsinks. I still have a 1080ti chugging away that needed re-pasting a few years back. As far as the Threadripper bottlenecking, you could just get the card an see what happens. Usually, once everything is shoved to your GPU there

Your next SSD might be SATA again — here's why that's not a problem
Not trying to be that guy, but this post aged like milk. Microcenter is currently selling only one SATA SSD model: https://www.microcenter.com/product/709397/samsung-870-evo-8tb-ssd-tlc-v-nand-sata-iii-6gb-s-25-internal-solid-state-drive 8TB $4139.995-7 days to ship. I have never been more upset by a number in my life.
I’m running a 1st gen i7-875K overclocked to 4Ghz, 16GB Kingston Fury DDR3 1600MHz CL10, EVGA GTX 980 TI SC, Samsung 870 Evo SSD and I get 7.6. Not too concerned as it’s plenty fast and runs every game from that era on max settings. In your case, maybe try overclocking to get that additional .1 you’
