What are the best E-readers?
Kindle and Kobo are the main two most established brands of the space. The former generally tend to be a bit better built and less buggy, and supports some great QoL features like syncing across devices for sideloaded content and send-to-Kindle. Kindle books can only be read on the Kindle device or

Hate on Kindle
The hatred is for Amazon, not kindles specifically. Although side loading and managing your library externally is definitely easier with other ereaders as well. I've also had several Oasis and moved to the Pocketbook Era. You're right that the oasis is very well made, but I still much prefer the gen

pocketbook verse (pro) vs clara bw vs other recs?
Verse Lite is just a worse Verse, just forget about it (smaller battery, no buttons, no SD card slot, no warm colour temperature, also not waterproof - as the standard Verse isn't). Portablility: all devices in discussion are 6" devices, there's no difference in portability (Kobo Clara BW is slightl

Best ereader for KoReader
Pocketbook Era. It's built for side-loading and has much better page turn buttons and hand grip than Kobo. Installing KOReader is completely hassle-free.

I need a 7-8" BW ereader with buttons. Suggestions?
I have the Era & the 8" Carta 1200 PocketBook InkPad 4. Both are decent devices, the screen on both is fine. The Era now is my most favourite device, but I still use my InkPad 4 for manga (bigger screen). I said fine because I could in the past compare my InkPad 4 to a Carta 1300 sunken screen Kobo

(EU) best epub ereader with sideloading
I started using a Pocketbook Era purely to escape using Kindles. It has plenty of storage, has drag and drop side loading, and a fairly effortless install of KOReader, a highly customizable epub reader. My two biggest issues are that the frontlight and battery life don't really hold up to the Kindle

E-reader recommendations
Consider also PocketBook Era or InkPad 4. They allow uploading books using USB and File Explorer, or with internet options. They are a bit slow though.

Finally getting rid of my kindle
Pocketbook brand is the best IMO. Especially for ease of side loading. You can send ANY book to your device. Takes epub, mobi, FB2, .PDF. and like 24 more. I have an Era and a Touch HD3

PLEASE give me a big "yes" or a big "no" on some of the devices I'm considering
As someone who’s used Kindles, Pocketbook and is now on a Kobo I’d take a closer look at Pocketbook over Kobo. It is really the most flexible with file formats, it can actually run pdf’s and epubs with no issue. Kobo is technically “”compatible”” with epub for example, but it’s pretty much required
