Thoughts on Lumix S5iix for video vs what I currently use (Nikon Z8)

Hey there! Full time business photographer videographer here. Looks like you’re hitting the limit of using a hybrid photo camera for long form video. The Nikon Z8 is an incredible camera, but some would say it isn’t built for hour plus continuous recording, especially in a theater environment. Readi

S5ii first lens recommendations?

S5iiX and S1ii longtime user here! Been in this situation hunting lenses, many times, for10 yrs. Short answer if one-and-done: Sigma 20-200 Tried almost all Sigmas and Lumixes, bought every FF L mount focal length from primes to zooms, 14-200mm. M4/3 too. Can't go wrong with any starting out really.

S1R owners in 2026, how’s it holding up?

Having owned the S1R and now the S1Rii, the original was a much nicer built camera, with great design touches, I much prefer it from a handling perspective. (I miss the top screen!!) But the S1R’s autofocus is pretty crap, if you’re doing static portraits and landscape work it’s fine but good luck d

LUMIX S5III Speculation

I love my S5II, but the only thing that I can see wanting in the future is more resolution. I don't know what Lumix' sales are like, if there's enough to justify all s5 competing with the S1, or not. In my mind, the S1IIe is basically the updated S5II, they'll just need to drop the price a bit when

Q: What’s the single best thing AND the single worst thing about the LUMIX S9? Let’s get a discussion going…

There are many different types of wedding photographers. Documentary photographers are very popular in the UK these days and are often very discreet and won't interfere with the day at all. I carry a Domke F5xb bag (tiny!) and two S5IIs with a 35 and 85 prime. I'd say 70-80% of shots are completely

S5ii AF is rough

Here are my tips/what I do. My AF is tact sharp, around the 90% within Sony and Canon range. I also use the 24-70 S Pro, as well as the 70-200mm S Pro (f2.8), 16-35mm S Pro, and a bunch of LUMIX Prime lenses. Update to the latest firmware that released yesterday. Turn AF Detection Setting on. KEY PA

Is S5 II worth it for general photography?

It’s totally worth it, you will love this camera. I’m a full time wedding videographer/photographer and S5ii are my main camera currently and I’ve been using LUMIX for 10 years. I’m upgrading to S1II soon!

Small rig basic or black mamba S5iix

In the end, it depends on your needs. The normal one has 2 coldshoe mounts and nato rail on top (if you wanna use it with quick detachable handles/screens). If you just wanna rig it for video, might be better. If you do photography aswell, Black Mamba is your only real option. It gets less in the wa

Nikon z5 II --VS-- Lumix s5 II, Who wins?

I’ve used both for a pretty good amount of time. They both serve as the best budget full frame hybrid cameras on the market. The nikon offers a better experience for those more inclined to photography (especially flash and sports photography) lumix uses an old olympus mount which limits what flashes

Purchased S5IIX - Should I return for S1RII?

The S5iiX is amazing, but the S1Rii is on another level IMO. It is most definitely worth the extra cost to me, but YMMV. My only real complaint is that it chews through battery life in no time. I have to have at least 2 spares on me at all times. Overheating was bad but they fixed it with firmware m
