Is this the right time to buy a m43 system?
First of all, this isn’t targeted at you, OP. I may let out a bit of frustration here because these posts are every other day. You just caught me with some time to rant. I never understood the “M43 is dead” argument. I’m not saying it’s impossible, I just don’t understand the criteria. The fundament

OM-3 or A6700 for travel?
Between OM-3 and A6700 for mounting on a backpack strap, I would pick OM-3 due to weather sealing and smaller lens set. But if I knew I would carry my camera mounted on a backpack strap and I would not need an EVF, then I would pick an Olympus E-P7 with Oly 14-42mm EZ or Pana 12-35 for day/outdoors

OM-1 Mark II vs OM-3 for street/hiking (coming from E-M5 III + 12-100)
I have both and I'm about to offload the OM-3 as I just can't get a comfortable grip on it. I've tried the SmallRig grips and a half case and neither really work for me. The issue is the Colour Dial on the front. It just sits in the wrong place for my fingers. The grip is slightly smaller than the h

Seeking lense advice
The Sony Alpha 7 IV is a full frame camera. That means it’s bigger and heavier than APSC and micro 4/3 cameras. Do you plan to take macro insect pictures of live insects in the field or are you planning to work in studio with preserved specimens? I ask that because I personally would not enjoy macro

Should I get an OM3 or x100vi or…?
I sold my x100vi not long after I picked up the OM-3. It’s a much better camera in almost any way. Yes, larger, but it’s still very compact with some lenses. Video is much, much better on THE OM-3! The focus difference is night and day too!

Best minimal (light/small/budget) lens combo for any situation?
Personally, I think the best overall setup is 12-45mm f4 pro, 40-150mm f4 pro, 75-300mm, dji 15mm f1.7 and sigma 56mm f1.4 (+ a flash). It would cover most situations, everything would be very small and the cost is relatively low. If I had to make a budget version of it, it would still actually incl

Is there anyone who has used both Sony and Olympus cameras?
I’ve had Fuji, Sony FF, APSC as well as Olympus/om cameras which I currently use. For me I really enjoy the lighter weight, ergonomics, ruggedness of OM and the quality of the output is completely acceptable for what I do with the cameras. The downside of m43 being MUCH less actively developed in th

Debating whether to stay with MFT
Every format is a combination of trade offs. For example, you won’t find a bright standard zoom the size of Panasonic 12-35mm in any system. On the other hand, if you’re OK with f/2.8 on Micro 4/3, then an f/4 zoom on a full frame camera should be more than perfectly acceptable. A Nikon Z5 (or Z5 II

Why?
R8 is a base model full frame with minimal features, it lacks weather sealing, stabilization, and uses a small battery. It's main selling point is that it's a full frame but not much else going for it. OM-3 is a flagship level camera with IP rated weather sealing, 7.5 stops of IBIS with stabilized l

Sydney Daily Random Discussion Thread 13/04/2026
I currently use an Olympus OMD E-M5 MkII, and I've managed to bring the telephoto lens with me to some sporting events/stadiums because it's just so compact, lol. Sometimes I think about moving to the Canon R or Sony Alpha system, but I'm too embedded in the Olympus/OM ecosystem to really want to ch
