Okay, so a couple of things That is absolutely the right camera to start learning photography - good job. Until the Z50II came out I always recommended the ZFc but for various reasons the Z50II is now the better choice Don't buy new. See if Nikon has that exact gear available refurbished at a discou

You should have gotten a Z 5II. Did you read the box? It said Z50 II... Did you even read the comment above.

Z50 II for $650 is really nice. I don't think you can buy a better camera for $650 USD new or used

I try using the viewfinder to take more shots (because of the movement), but it’s kind of hard, so I end up using the screen. The problem is that it adds a lot of delay/lag after each photo. Live view on the Nikon D5200 is using a contrast detect autofocus system that is terrible compared to the pha

I moved from Z50 II to Z5 II. I value IBIS more. My other cameras have IBIS and I couldn't go back to a body without IBIS. As for the size, with 40mm, 28mm and 75mm primes the Z5 II isn't that big of a camera. AF performance is a wash between two. Lens selection for Z DX is pretty small and no prime

Maybe stick to DX since you'll miss the extra reach if you don't. The Z50 II has some great AF and you could use the 150-600 with the FTZ. If not, look at the 180-600mm Z lens that's great.

Too add to my point you just can't beat the ergonomics of the Nikon. In the hand it's very comfortable and dials are intuitive. I find the Fuji and Sony cameras to feel very awkward in the hand. On top of that you get really great performance from the z50ii

As a fellow hobbyist, I don't see anything wrong in sticking to the D500 (shutter replacement, or second used body) if you're satisfied with it. Great value, great performance... Now, if you're curious, why not rent a Z to try it... As someone else suggested, Z50 II would the only option for sports

Between these two, Z50ii hands down. It’s a newer body, and its AF system with animal/bird detection will blow the a6600 out of the water. As well as video capabilities, should you ever need them. The wildlife lens lineup is superb both on Nikon and Sony, with Nikon having more first party prime opt
