Are you self-hosting LLMs in your 10-inch racks? Looking for hardware & model advice!
Running a 8u 10 inch mini rack. Minisforum Ms-S1 Max runs my self hosted LLMs like GPT OSS 120b. It’s a bit overkill but I use it for paperless, my n8n workflows, karakeep, openwebui/anythingLLM and also ollama.

Best hardware for a headless home LLM server (private-doc RAG + summarization)? Strix Halo 128GB or something better? (~$3–$4k budget)
The “Strix Halo is slow” argument is only really true for dense models, not for your setup. Since your workload is RAG plus summarization, MoE models are the better fit, and 128GB of unified memory is a very strong combination for that. GPT-OSS 120B can run at around 30 tokens per second, Qwen3-30B-

Has anyone tried cranking big LLMs on those mini Ryzen AI setups? and real talk on speeds and memory
My minisforum ms-s1 max 128GB can run 120B models no problem. Generates it faster than you can read it. Using LM Studio. Set it to 96GB VRAM and you still have 32GB system RAM left over. Just did a couple tests. About 45 tokens/sec

Need advice for a $10,000 AI workstation build (video, image, voice, LLMs, training, everything)
Sharing my limited research on workstation. VRAM matters more than speed of the GPU unit -- so newer does not necessary mean better -- as long as the model fits in the VRAm, that will be fastest - tokens per seconds. I believe DGX spark is good option, but workstation PC will be better in general. (

Torn for a LLM server between Halo and Mac
It depends on your use-case. If you need long context and are working on things like local coding, then the prompt processing on the Mac will make your experience worse. However if you're only serving inference with sub 100k context, then the TG on the Mac makes up for it. Mac is also better at clus

Considering buying a mini PC to exclusively run Steam (need some advice)
Agreed, however, that Minisforum MS-S1 Max is about the most powerful (and expensive) miniPC you can get, and it's not really that small. It's more like a small PC, not a MiniPC. The iGPU in it is the 8060S, which is equivalent to a 7600XT. That's a last-gen mid-range GPU. It's not considered a 4K c

What to use for 256k Context
Minisforum MS-S1 Max 128GB (Strix Halo) + RTX 3090 on Oculink eGPU dock. = ~$4500. This configuration is ~100GB of VRAM total (not for a single model), 24GB of it is fast, and it's a solid configuration for fully local orchestration + multiple agent workers. With the new MTP optimizations, 20-25 tp/

Corsair please read. there is blood in the water! (How Corsair Destroys valve's new steam machine)
If 1080P gaming is your goal, it is an exceptional piece of hardware, but that is where the exceptional part ends when it comes to gaming. An RTX 5080 laptop has the absolute raw TDP and graphics hardware to obliterate strix halo. We aren't just talking double digit gaines here. we are talking about
