Valve’s Pierre-Loup Griffais says that they thought about selling the Steam Machine without RAM and SSD and doesn't rule out that it will eventually be an option [like via ifixit]

i just looked into buying a minisforum ms-a2 barebones (i.e no ram, no nvme) but the pre-built ones were cheaper than I could source, even taking into account that they pre-built ones included a wasted windows oem licence.

Is Digitec starting to behave like every other crappy seller?

You are missing the point too. OP bought the hardware last summer. He had the PC for nearly a year before noticing that one of his SFP+ ports were defective. Nearly one year. Within that year the global prices for DDR5 RAM skyrocketed, making his PC much more valuable. This was caused by the market,

Help me build a tiny travel homelab, I have analysis paralysis

Lenovo thinkcentre tiny’s (eg M920Q, my favorite).Metal rack; I despise plastic 3D print for anything load-bearing. Wasteful and cheap looking. That’s just my opinion, I know 3D printing is popular here. Mellanox dual 10Gb SFP+ NICs. I like minisforum somewhat, and almost got a MS-A2, but if I want

Any others better than this in the same price range?

I’ve had good experience with them so far, got a UM790 last year that is super quiet and performs well. I had to return a MS-a2 9955hx model because the fan noise was too loud for me. They offered to send me replacement parts but I decided I’d rather return it which they gave me no issues with. Refu

MS-A2 9955HX BIOS V1.03 ProxMox PCI Passthrough Broken

Sure look here: https://forum.proxmox.com/threads/lockout-of-minisforum-ms-a2-brick-warning-after-1-03-update-of-9955hx.184834/ It‘s not a Proxmox related issue as far as I understand. Its more a Minisforum Issue as Kernel DMA Protection Indicator option in BIOS 1.0.3 is missing / cant be configured

Guys, what are your findings?

I deliberately set lower thermal throttling limits on my Minisforum UM790 Pro and MS-A2. Especially during the summer, I'd rather give up a bit of performance than significantly reduce their lifespan or risk hardware failure from excessive heat.

MS-A3

Hey, don’t know if I am too late to the conversation but I always thought what made the Minisforum MS series good was it’s versatility across multiple domains of computing. I think with the MS-A3, it’s important to keep this going, so hear are my thoughts Chose a Pro series Ryzen chip this time and

Latest Unifi Stack Upgrade

You might be surprised. I have a very similar setup and the noisiest components are not Ubiquiti components. They are my Minisforum MS-A2 server and Ugreen DXP4800+. If those two were absent, the entire rack would be as quiet as a mouse.
