Bar Crappy computer

I have a LG Gram with the worst implementation (performance wise) of the i5-1035G7 in a LG Gram 17 laptop. It has like 2cm of copper from the CPU to the tiny-ass fan. The Intel graphics use 4 year old drivers because it automatically rolls back when I update. BAR literally gives me a loading screen

Warning: LG Gram LG 17Z90RU-G.AA55F Specs Discrepancy – Possible False Advertising on RAM (LPDDR5 vs LPDDR4x)

As you found out already (but probably too late, after buying this laptop) the processor you got does not support 6000Mhz RAM. But the memory is the least of your problems. Since you are knowledgeable enough to check the memory in BIOS and require a certain performance from your laptop, why on earth

Local LLM - privacy first - doctor

I have the same laptop processor and memory - it's an LG-Gram. I have done quite a bit of bench-marking on the 155H, and one thing I notice is that thermal control and power management often times degrades AI speed on it. Knowing that, there are a number of models that if you are doing text only wor

Lg gram + Ubuntu 26.04 impressions

I don't game on my LG gram so I don't need dGPU under Linux (but I still benefit from dual-fan cooling). I disable it via command sudo prime-select intel and reboot. For some reason, Nvida Settings UI does not allow user to switch to intel-only via GUI. All display outputs are connected to Intel GPU

Which Laptop to buy? Budget $1,200-$1,500 USA

Since you are agnostic on screen size I would recommend the new and relatively light LG Gram 17" with an Intel 7 series 3 (Panther Lake, 2016) at a very sweet price of $1300 at Best Buy which is $300 off of what the price was Sunday night. https://www.bestbuy.com/product/lg-gram-max-17-touch-screen-

2026: ASUS Zenbook S14 Core Ultra 9 Processor vs. HP OmniBook Ultra 14 Core Ultra X9 vs. Yoga Slim 7i Ultra Aura vs. LG gram 14

Some people reported their Asus s14 (previous model) had a display issue related to the hinge. Haven't been able to find much on the yoga slim or LG gram. I want something lightweight and portable, but worried about heat issues on these

ThinkPad P16s Gen 4 AMD (Ryzen 7 PRO 350, 4K OLED, 86Wh battery) review!

Think you have a very good Thinkpad! I got similar one last fall before RAM prices exploded. Very happy with mine. Run it on Linux without issues: except linux graphics drivers weren't the greatest, but have improved. Used to get 1-3 second blackouts, but no longer. I never hear the fan (do some lig

LG Gram Pro 17" 2025 - beyond insulting thermal paste application, 80% of the die was naked; awful thermal design too, plenty of room for bigger heatpipe and heatsink. This is aswful engineering from LG. This laptop could have used much higher power limits.

I've been in tech for 40+ years, and spent 20+ years deploying laptops to users. I've owned several MBPs and MB Airs. I've built PCs and even built water-cooled and air-cooled (fanless) PCs as I was obsessed with silent operation back in the day. Heatsinks, cooling, fans, etc were a big focus of min

I'm not defending the poor thermal paste application you are identifying, but I've had 3 LG Gram 17" models so far (2021 and 2024) and I'm very happy with the performance. I bought it for the big screen and light weight. Any thickening of heat pipes, additional fans, heavier heatsinks, etc would add

Gram longevity?

I've had mine (LG gram 17" 2020, 40gm Ram) for 5 years and it's the best laptop I've ever had. Only had to change the thermal cpu paste recently, as the laptop was getting a bit too warm. Otherwise, best laptop.
