What Thinkpads do people use?
Let me explain the ThinkPad T: This is Lenovo's corporate line of laptops. "Corporate" means it's used by large corporations. Corporations don't buy them. They lease them for three or five years, usually directly from Lenovo. They pay almost full price for this, but they get quick replacements for f

Windows on Snapdragon X2 Elite Extreme is finally what Arm laptops should have been
I have two WoA laptops - SP11 (X1P) and Lenovo T14s (X1E). I also have a Ryzen 7 T14s from work. The difference could not be more night and day. I hate to do anything on my AMD work laptop, it is so frustrating - bleeding battery when it's supposed to be in sleep, constant fan noise even while doing

Easyeffects is a good linux exclusive
you can use it to get the effect of windows-exclusive dolby tuning on linux. you convolve the recording of a gaussian pulse played on windows. so cool! wildly better speakers. https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Lenovo_ThinkPad_T14_(AMD)_Gen_4 scroll down to speakers

Lenovo thinkpad t14 gen 2 vs hp elitebook 840 g8
The T14 Gen 2 offers better durability, superior keyboard feel, and more ports. The EliteBook 840 G8 is lighter, generally considered more "stylish", and features "superior" aluminum build quality and battery life Not a bias because This is a ThinkPad sub but aluminum ≠ better, ThinkPad is more rugg

Apple Macbook Pro M1 switch to something like it in design and functionality
There's nothing quite like Apple computers out there but there are competing ones where you get different trade-offs. Look into Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon for lightweight high-end laptop or ThinkPad T14 for something repairable. Both of these work with Linux and Windows and are amazing devices.

Windows on Snapdragon X2 Elite Extreme is finally what Arm laptops should have been
I don't know who's ultimately to blame in your case - the Ryzen T14s being a work machine I immediately get flashbacks from efficiency-(and performance!-)destroying security software and intrusive GPOs ruining energy settings (combined with outdated BIOSes, oh the irony...) - but Lenovo's AMD Thinkp

MX better than CachyOS for gaming?
It's why I stayed with MX. I have a ThinkPad T14 gen 1. Cachy was the only one that gave solid gaming experience but I prefer discover for selecting apps and flatpaks. I like retro games so to see the applications before downloading is helpful for the open-source clones of old games. But I wanted mo

Best docking station?
40AN is very powerful if it works, although a little buggy (aka bug hell) on some devices. Considering yours is a native TB3 device, chances are good it'll work well. I have one, and it works nicely with my P16V Gen2 Intel, while it is painful with my T14s Gen3 AMD. Fun fact, the successor (40B0) wo

Just received my T14s Gen 6 Intel 228V…
This minics my experience. Got a bunch of them with 258V. Performance/efficiency blend is superb. All-workday (9+-hour) battery runtime even with the OLED, 11+-hour battery runtime with the IPS - those are real-life fígures in a corporate environment. Running Windows 10 (LTSC) on them, no bloat issu

I’m starting to resent my T480
Before spending money on a newer laptop, ditch the Windows11 and reset your T480 to the state it was in when it was new. Then update the Win10 to the latest 22H2 release, check that Microsoft Update doesn't replace any Lenovo-supplied drivers with generic ones and enroll in ESUs to keep receiving se
