Lenovo’s New ThinkPads Score 10/10 for Repairability
It basically solves the issue of not having less efficient sodimm memory while also not soldering the memory to the motherboard close to the CPU. The memory comes in these removable modules that have contact points on the bottom and so they just sit on the motherboard and get screwed down. It's almo

Is lpcamm2 gonna survive if crucial stops exsisting?
Lenovo is using lpcamm2 on thinkpad t14 gen 7, thinkpad p1 gen 8, thinkpad t1g gen 8. I think they will continue production, and hopefully it becomes more and more mainstream.

What is generally agreed upon to be the "best" ThinkPad?
The OP asks about "longevity, performance and customization" specifically these 3.So, performance = Pcustomization + longevity = full-sized P (not ultra slim models like P1, which is X1 rebranded as P)performance + customization + longevity = P16 Also, it should be noted that the closer the design i

P1 Gen8
I personally want a T1G which is a P1 with consumer graphics. Just the idea of a gaming capable ThinkPad really does it for me. I have an X1E gen 2 with a 1650 which does the trick for now. But I do want something newer eventually. Possibly will look to buy at the end of next year when this year's m

Really Looking to move to an AMD Thinkpad but don't love the configurations
Lenovo has made such a model line with the Z13 and Z16, which were high-end AMD models. Unfortunately, they did not sell well, so Lenovo discontinued them. Intel is paying a lot of money to support Lenovo in the development of the X1/P1 line, so naturally, these models are Intel exclusive. AMD did t

Should i get a thinkpad p1 gen 6
Screw the MacBook, go for the ThinkPad. MacOS updates are always a f*cking mess with any 3rd party tools/apps - especially Python (brew-installed) versions. I've always been biased against Apple products since they make repairs unnecessarily difficult and costly. Steve Jobs was a hacker and a modder

Thinking of buying a thinkpad
This was already mentioned but if you haven't yet, search for the hardware maintenance manual for the models you're looking at. Some of this should be in the user manual, e.g. you can see the list of customer replaceable units (IBMese for user replacement parts) and the instruction for that in the m

Returning to Linux for Rust dev - advice for picking a Thinkpad
P1 has 2 slots and P16 has 3! Beware though, only one of those 3 in the P16 is a PCIe 5.0 slot (for faster Gen 5 SSDs). Checkout the detailed psref for both: * P1: https://psref.lenovo.com/Product/ThinkPad/ThinkPad_P1Gen_8 * P16: https://psref.lenovo.com/syspool/Sys/PDF/ThinkPad/ThinkPadP16_Gen_3/ThinkPad
