Why do people say the P series is overkill for most people?
It's not hard to find a charger. Unless you're buying gaming laptops even a simple USB-C to Lenovo "rectangle" port adapter will work. You just need a 100W USB-C charger and a suitable cable - the whole set can cost under $30, and is useful beyond just your laptops (it'll also charge your phone). Al

ThinkPad or Legion?
I had a legion with your specs and switched to ThinkPad P1 gen 7. After using both, found the ThinkPad was more durable, had better battery life and didn’t weigh so much. Also the ThinkPad worked better with a docking station (Lenovo said there are no docking stations compatible with Legion).

Mechanical Engineering Laptop
The top-end T1g/P1 models trade battery life for raw performance. I find the Ultrabook Plus model to be a good all-rounder, even for CAD with fewer part counts. All packages are decent deals considering the warranty. Personally, I would wait until the summer for the Lenovo P1 Gen 9 to become availab

Should I get a Macbook Neo or a used thinkpad?
I have both a P1 Gen 7 and a MacBook Pro and as much as I love the P1 Gen 7, it sounds like a jet engine half the time, and the battery dies in about two hours. The MacBook Pro is silent and lasts all day and you just can't ignore that. I really hate it because I don't love Apple. I really love my T

EU/IT Linux Laptop, what to buy?
Skip all the hype brands. Durable laptops with good Linux support are made by only 3 companies: Dell, Lenovo and HP. Discard all other options. Imo the absolute best laptop you can buy right now is the Dell Pro Max 16 Premium. See this video. Skip the GPU as always unless you really need it. Worthy

Architects, what computers or laptops do you personally use for working at home and while travelling?
Archicad user here....small residential office, and I do not do high end renders, I work within Archicad's rendering capabilities to share with clients and builders. I do develop detailed models of my projects with many design options, so my models will get kind of large, but not out of control. I h

Comparison between the best
ThinkPad P16 Gen 3 with Core Ultra 9 285HX and RTX 5000 Pro P series, but not the -s models, those are rebadged T14/T16 besides few exceptions Depends on the market, your budget and performance needs. Generally, P series will be the answer. FYI P series battery life isn't impressive. P16 and older P

Really Looking to move to an AMD Thinkpad but don't love the configurations
Lenovo has made such a model line with the Z13 and Z16, which were high-end AMD models. Unfortunately, they did not sell well, so Lenovo discontinued them. Intel is paying a lot of money to support Lenovo in the development of the X1/P1 line, so naturally, these models are Intel exclusive. AMD did t

Is this the Ultimate Linux Thinkpad??
It’s incredible! But the Intel P14s with the 75Wh battery can win on battery life, P1 8th Gen/P16 for the performance, and X13 for portability. Then there’s stuff like the X220/210Ai, T25 FrankenPad and so on with custom builds/retaining the 7 row. So, everyone has their ultimate Linux Thinkpad in a

Not liking the Thinkpad workstation!
Look at Lenovo yoga. Small, light, reasonably powerful. The graphics isn’t as good, but good enough. I’ve had one at work for a travel computer and can do cad on it. Microsoft surface isn’t horrible either. I’m a ME, and use a dell precision 7560 daily. Catia, MRP software development (api’s, custom
