P1 Gen8

I personally want a T1G which is a P1 with consumer graphics. Just the idea of a gaming capable ThinkPad really does it for me. I have an X1E gen 2 with a 1650 which does the trick for now. But I do want something newer eventually. Possibly will look to buy at the end of next year when this year's m

laptop for mechanical engineering

Used ThinkPad P1 Gen 4 is the best price:performance. Get a dedicated GPU with as much VRAM as you can.

Laptop under 1400 USD from US with international warranty.

Well, he wants to use design software so might want something with a GPU. Usually I'd suggest something like an HP ZBook Studio, Lenovo P1, or a Dell Precision

P1 Gen 8 owner. Wifi issues. Should I upgrade?

Wifi is almost always a driver thing or a network thing. Wifi cards are pretty reliable from a hardware perspective. The last wifi driver for P1 Gen 8 was back in November. I would uninstall your wireless driver and reinstall the lenovo driver in case windows update has served you a crappy generic d

Are these good options for mechatronics engineering? How different are their GPUs?

It means it will be supported, so if you have an issue with the software you will be able to get support from the software vendor. If you run unsupported hardware and have issues then you cannot get support. You will also get more reliable performance. If you don't care about support, then the 3080

Dell precision 5550

I second the ThinkPad P1. You would want the P1 instead of an X1 extreme. The P1 is a true workstation system with professional grade nvidia graphics that have ISV certifications for the apps you'll be using for your engineering stuff. Not saying Lenovo is perfect but they do tend to fail less than

Best Video Editing Laptop

Question: why do you want a laptop if you have no interest in mobility? You’ll much rather do this work on a well spec desktop with a pair of giant UHD+ displays than a laptop. Without an answer, this is an interesting A/B case. You can get more potent graphics in a “gaming laptop” with the conseque

"Can the T480 game?" "Yes"

I'm gaming these days off a P1 4th gen @ 1660p Better gaming specs than the 480 you got, but still, this idea ThinkPads "are horrible" for gaming is pure cap Like most ThinkPads can run just fine games from the 2010s decade, tho I usually stick to Civilization and platform shit like The Hollow Knigh

Engineering laptop

The Lenovo is more durable for sure. Discreet GPU absolutely not required (new intel Xe is surprisingly robust) but not a terrible idea to accelerate CAD apps. Went with the Lenovo P1 for my kid but got it before memory prices spiked. Also a good option is to get the service contract that covers acc

Can anyone recommend a laptop without PWM and TD ??

Depends what you want but I love my Lenovo P1/X1 Extreme Older models 15.6” newer 16” nice choice of IPS with high resolution, 4K ones are great if you want great clarity. Battery life isn’t greatest but they are very thin and one of the lightest laptop available with a dedicated GPU.
