You have identified the advantages and disadvantages correctly. This ends up being a very personal choice and you have to weigh these tradeoffs for yourself. To me the images have the distinct Leica look, but the shooting experience is a night-and-day difference. Is street possible with the SL series? Of course, but it's no different from shooting street with a DSLR. I love my SL2-S, but I wouldn't carry it around my neck everywhere I go.

Have you thought about something from the SL line? I know they tend to be looked at as Leica's red headed stepchild around here but they are great cameras if you are dead set on buying a Leica. They will be a bit larger and heavier than an M or a Q but they do bring full IP54 rating for weather seal
