To everyone who told me I needed an SL…

Yes, my SL2-S is my favourite Leica, brilliant with af lenses, wonderful with manual focus, that screen is amazing.

Help deciding

Love Leica cameras. Have used film and digital M, SL and Q. Nothing changes about your photography. It doesn't improve it. The biggest dopamine rush is the process of buying it and then telling people you have an M. It's not an upgrade over the X-T3 in any way if I'm being honest. No weather sealing

Switching from X-T5 to Leica SL2/SL2-S

You have identified the advantages and disadvantages correctly. This ends up being a very personal choice and you have to weigh these tradeoffs for yourself. My personal preference is limiting weight and size which puts you in Q territory. If it has to be an interchangeable lens SL, I’d go with sigm

SL2S vs SL3 for M adaption

The 3 and the m11 will render nearly identically, it’s the same sensor, along with the Q3 series. This sensor is also found in Sony’s 60 megapixel offerings. If you like it on your M, you’ll love it on the SL3. I don’t buy into a sensor rendering something “more” or “less” better, it all has to do w

M lenses performance on Nikon ZF vs Leica SL2-S vs Lumix S1/5 ?

So as you said, the SL does have an optimized sensor stack for M mount with the same application of microlenses as the native Ms. Does it make a difference? Who knows, I never saw a comparison between the SL2 and S1R (Panasonic camera with the same sensor but without the M mount mods). I will say th

Annual insurance photo 🙃

I notice looks like all SL2-S. I used to have the SL 601, SL2, SL2-S, now using the SL3. I sometimes feel like that SL2 and SL2-S has better auto focus than the Leica SL3, have you tried an SL3? do you prefer the auto focus of the SL2-S? Im sure you need at least decent AF for weddings, I have done

Leica D-Lux 8, M240, M8, M10, Q? - Nepal/Himalaya visit

Have you thought about something from the SL line? I know they tend to be looked at as Leica's red headed stepchild around here but they are great cameras if you are dead set on buying a Leica. They will be a bit larger and heavier than an M or a Q but they do bring full IP54 rating for weather seal

Can someone pleeeeeeease explain the fascination with Leica cameras?

I've been a Nikon shooter for decades and a couple years ago I bought a SL2-S. Built like a tank. I loved the solid feel of the body. It reminded me of the feel the F2. But, having two systems is just stupid so I sold it. I also felt like the back button focus was janky at best. The only feature I m

The Leica SL3 and Weddings

For digital at weddings, I only shoot Leica. I love it. The colors are so so good. Our files are wonderful, very malleable. I use the SL2-S + Q3 + Q3 43 + M10. However I did not like the SL2 file looks and I won't touch an SL3 because of the file eating issues. Which perhaps has been resolved, but s

Capture a moment, or capture focus? Leica M11 + Voigtlander APO Lanthar 28mm f/2.0

From what I remember the sl3s might be better at autofocus than the sl3 ? And the Leica branded non apo glass was definitely faster to focus from what I tested on the sl2s. Apo is great but there is more glass to move in that lens so it’s naturally slower by comparison to the non apo Leica version.
