For best portability & not Kindle I would go for the Kobo Clara. It’s 6 inches. I have one, and love it. It comes in color or black & white. Black & white has a crisper screen for reading text. But color is good if she reads manga or if you think she just wants color for looking at book covers.

So you want to get a Colorsoft because you dislike the Kobo Clara Colour ergonomics.. I fail to see what ergonomics you are getting from the Colorsoft unless you are referring to the screen size. Kobo!! Kobo Clara BW for crisp screen, or Kobo Clara Colour for colour option. Both are the same just one is black/white and the other is the option if one wants colour.
