Hello good people. I've got a question for ya'.

if it's more reassuring, my 1TB OLED came with a kingston drive in it which means it's probably an NV3, so it'll be all good. just make sure that you have a way to connect a USB drive to your deck to reinstall steamOS (search up steamOS recovery image).

Fake Kingston SSD M.2?

I wouldn't buy it in any scenario, regardless if it's real or fake. The NV3 should be avoided in the first place. The hardware itself is notoriously everywhere. Sometimes it's Phison, sometimes it's SMI. While it's technically an improvement over the NV2, it carries the same issues as the NV1 and NV

What drive is better for the price?

Kingston uses whatever source is cheapest for controllers and NAND chips. In the NV2, some of the controller/NAND pairings led to poor performance. I would give the NV3 a pass for now, until Kingston proves they learned their lesson and quit letting the accountants design SSDs. Let others be guinea

What do You think about this one from CSL?

The CPU and GPU function efficiently; however, the budget wasn't sufficient for the RAM and SSD. In 2026, 16GB would be insufficient. It should have 32GB of memory. Kingston NV3 is average at best; the cooling solution is not adequate for the CPU. On the whole, it is acceptable but requires minor ad

First Build: Good or not?

Nay, nay on the NV3. Once the good reviews came out for the NV3, Kingston started swapping controllers and NAND. The good ones were MLC, but the ones they are selling QLC now. There are six different version as of December. The accounting department meddling with the NV2 components resulted in some

Z8 finally awakened

This is the way. I built a 2 TB CFexpress card from a Kingston NV3 and it's solid. It might get toasty about 10 minutes into a 8K/60 RAW recording (N-RAW at High Quality), but that's not bad for about a fifth of the price of a 'regular' CFexpress. It also shoots 20fps RAW burst photography for over
