Yeah that’s the way to go. My main system is Wiim Amp + KEF Q Concerto Meta and I can just press play as well. IMO no point getting high end equipment if the gets in the way of me enjoying music. Rather have a simple to use hi-fi system.

I would think tube pre and ss amp is less tubey then ss pre with a tube amp though…and I love them tubes. I looked hard at aric audios super 6sN7 preamp. Supratek preamps. And the McIntosh c2300.
