My mom's bog standard 80s Hitachi amp with 90s paradigm speakers sounds better than my system with KEF R3 Metas. Could be the room it was in.

I love my R3 Meta with dual subs integrated with room perfect. Most people would probably say my equipment vastly exceeds my speaker (ie spend 80% of your budget on speakers) but I have yet to see a set I would want to move up to. The kefs are excellent speakers. I think they play well with untreated rooms bc they’re not quite as wide as the bmr. You know you like them, I’d try to listen to r3 meta if you haven’t yet.

KEFs are worth their Price Point. I have R3 Meta for my TT 2-Channel setup and they are great. Paired with REL/9x.

I don’t think I would call these midrange. These replaced a pair of vintage klipsch La Scalas for me. They are great speakers and they punch above their weight.
