Pfsense Router Suggestion

You can get a hp t740 for even cheaper, there are even more cheaper alternatives than this but this one was perfect for me,not too expensive and not too low powered Idk whats the pricing rn but got it for 12k + 3k 1gx4 port network card with 8gb 2400mhz ram + 64gb emmc which i later replaced with a s

What would you like to see Firewalla do in 2026?

BYOD and lifetime software license or even monthly subscription. Used hardware is so cheap these days, and I could easily SFP+ my own hardware. I moved to a unified gateway just to get a sfp+ module to remove my ATT AIO gateway/modem crap. I have tons of HP T740 thin clients for cheap.

Looking for a super fast, secure, and reliable x86 or ARM router with full OpenWRT support

$70 HP T740 on eBay, add dual or quad port NIC. Dual port 10GbE (not multi gig) NICs are less than $15 on eBay. If you're ok with 6x 1GbE the Cloudgenix Ion 2000 is $20 on eBay.

Budget homelab. It hosts multiple things (small) for me

I had bought 2 hp T740 thin clients. Price was golden at that time.

Noob question regarding finding routers that can use cake sqm routers for gigabit speeds (gaming/bufferbloat)

probably, but then you're paying 5x more. buy some semi beefy mini PC/thin client, like the HP T740, add a low profile quad port 10GbE card.

Looking for sensible upgrade path for my OpenWrt firewall (looking for device recommendations)

Then again HP T740's are $70 on eBay, add another $10 for a low profile quad 1GbE or dual 10GbE NIC.
