I'm a believer in eGPUs
Same here, I just recently switched to a mini PC with occulink support and connected my 3080 Ti, and performance was identical or similar to my current PC. And eGPU performance loss was virtually 0 with some games 10% loss. Time spy was around 1000 points lower from the eGPU with 20000 from 21000. M

Mini PC w/ Occulink or TB5
After some trials and tribulations I went with the GMKtec K8 Plus. It was the only one with OCuLink with a decent reputation on the forum at the time. Currently TB5 (Intel/Apple) and USB4v2 (open source) are rarely supported on mobile devices. Apple for example has TB5 but no PCIe support for graphi

Mini PC recommendation for development and local AI inference
Chat GPT is out of its mind, seriously switch to Deepseek which is way more accurate on Tech and coding. Chat GPT recommended Mini PC listing for A.I is so random, how could you list a Geekom A6 (6800H) and an Atomman G7 PT in the same listing. For LLM NPU are irrelevant even with the best A.I NPU o

Should i buy a Mini pc or a traditional desktop?
I bought a gmktec evo x1 as my mini pc. Thr gpu is good enough for 1080p med to high gaming. If I ever want to play things that isnmore demanding, I can hook it up to my egpu setup via oculink.

Good purchase source for USA - AooStar GEM10 with 64GB RAM
Don t go for the Evo-X1 if you plan to use an Oculink port specially with high ends GPU's, The Evo-X1 EGPU performance is terrible with its only 4 performances cores, AMD Phoenix point (7840HS) and Hawk point (8846HS) have very impressive EGPU petformance even with High ends EGPU performance loss ar

Best mff/sff pc for portability?
Tbh, most mff and sff cases are highly portable, but if you truly want portable, have you considered a mini pc with a egpu dock? Everything fits in a backpack. I have a mffpc, and I have a mini pc (evo-x2 amd 395 8060s) and I picked up another mini pc, a evo-x1 to pair with oculink dock. With my tra

Beelink SER9 Pro (HX 370 / 890M iGPU): runs Gemma 4 8B at 16 tok/s AND Qwen 3.5 35B A3B at 20+ tok/s, fanless 32 dB
Nothing to regret about the Evo X1 trade for the GMKtec K8 Plus, excepted the Evo X1 slightly higher single performances the Evo X1 had for unknown reason poor Multicore performance for an HX370, and the Evo X1 could be noisy under load way more than the K8 Plus, the worst attribute of the Evo-X1 wa

Ram Compatibility issues common?
I like the idea that the Firmware core setting is the culprit because it is matching the historical background of the Evo-x1. Prototype units have high performances and retail unit have low petformances. Geekbench search is an excellent tool because Geekbench Archive all its benxhmark with Device in

Geekom Computers PS3 émulation trough batocera
I'm still favoring the GMKtec K8 Plus. I run Batocera OS for classic console emulation which runs the RPCS3 and Xenia emulators to my satisfaction. Besides, it has x4 PCIe OCuLink if I need to take it beyond Steam Machine levels. I had originally looked at Beelink and Geekom but found they cut cost

New to mini pcs, is this good for gaming and local AI?
The Geekom A7 Max tends to perform poorly due to a single stick of RAM as a cost cutting measure. Single channel memory can reduce processing and graphics performance by up to 40% under heavy loads. By the time you buy a missing 16GB stick with current pricing its often cheaper to buy something with
