Best router for OpenWRT with 2x 2.5Gbit ethernet ports
From your own shortlist, I've had great experience with the GL.iNet Flint 2. (GL-MT6000). It has 2 * 2.5GbE ports WiFi 6 USB 3.0 It ships with an old version of Openwrt and a custom skin but is an easy flash to vanilla.

In the market for router
For WiFi 6, consider the GL.inet Flint 2, it's a very highly rated router on Rtings. It has OpenWRT preinstalled, so it's highly configurable and highly extensible. It also has vanilla OpenWRT support, so even if GL.inet stops supporting the device, you can keep getting firmware updates from the Ope

I'm looking for hardware suggestion for a router running OpenWrt
If the NanoPi R6S is too expensive/hard to find, you should seriously look at the GL.iNet Flint 2 (MT6000). Don't be fooled by the 'consumer router' shell. Inside, it has the MediaTek Filogic 830 (MT7986), which is a quad-core ARM A53 @ 2.0GHz. If you just want a wired router/firewall, you can simpl

Router or DIY recommendation
I’m a big fan of MediaTek Filogic based routers. The GL.iNet GL-MT6000 (Flint 2) probably being the prime example. It can be flashed straight to OpenWRT. I’m running an Acer Predator W6x (same hardware as the Flint 2) which can be flashed to OpenWRT with some effort.

Flint 2. I still a good option today?
Keep in mind that GL.iNet doesn't run 'vanilla' OpenWrt; it's a proprietary fork. If you want a pure native experience, MediaTek-based devices (like the Flint 2 (AX), beryl AX) are usually the better bet for driver compatibility. While the newer Wi-Fi 7 models like the Flint 3/3e/4 (soon) have Qualc

Good OpenWRT router in London, UK?
GL.iNet GL-MT6000 (Flint 2), it was £103 on Amazon on BF, gone back to normal price now, i think Aliexpress has them for little cheaper. I personally use a NanoPI R6S and its amazing piece of kit! 5W power, SQM at 1400Mbps

My small company is adding a employee handbook that disallows working abroad. Should I stay quiet or say something.
You need to have Gl.iNet Beryl AX as travel router and Gl.iNet Flint 2 as server. They both have powerful CPU which allows to encrypt and decrypt traffic fast. This way is much better then raspberry solution. https://secretnomad.club/wiki/hardware

MT76 Development for Flint 2?
Flint 2 has FEMs (front-end modules) that sit in between the Wi-Fi radios and the antennas to boost range. The mt76 driver supports these FEMs which allows maximum legal TX power for most countries on the Flint 2, but the MTK driver/OEM firmware will often boost the signal using the FEMs to above th

Someone explain the differences in routers?
At the hardware level what router you buy does not matter much. 500mb/s can be handled cheaply. What you pay for is good wireless performance and software features like smart traffic management and DNS based ad-blocking. For those reasons I recommend a Flint 2. It runs a modified version of OpenWRT
