Current highest spec router that supports OpenWRT H/W NAT offloading?
BPI-R4 (MT7988), most powerful but not recommended for Wi-Fi due to Wi-Fi NIC issues. GL.iNET Flint 2 (MT7986), currently best supported device for Wi-Fi. BPI-R3 (MT7986), like Flint 2 but with SFP. Flint 2's Wi-Fi will be better though as it is not a dev board. Flint 3 (Qualcomm IPQ 53xx), for Wi-F

14,000 routers are infected by malware that's highly resistant to takedowns - Ars Technica
I've had to replace the ASUS RT-AX86U Pro (AX5700) Dual Band WiFi 6 Extendable Gaming Router twice at one location for odd behavior that I couldn't get rid of after being used for a few months. It was being used strictly as an Wifi AP behind a different brand firewall but it wouldn't let any of the

Help choosing home router
As much as I love Unifi I would probably suggest a GL-iNet Flint 2 or Flint 3 for friends and family that don't need a full Unifi stack. They run on Openwrt and the hardware is pretty good, and they're more affordable than Ubiquiti. The only real benefit I can see for setting up friends or family wi

My small company is adding a employee handbook that disallows working abroad. Should I stay quiet or say something.
You need to have Gl.iNet Beryl AX as travel router and Gl.iNet Flint 2 as server. They both have powerful CPU which allows to encrypt and decrypt traffic fast. This way is much better then raspberry solution. https://secretnomad.club/wiki/hardware

What routers can you configure without an app?
I believe most of them still have web ui available for configuring settings. Some of them make it a pain to do initial setup without an app though, for example my last Netgear Nighthawk you could set it up from the we ui but they were strongly pushing you to do it with the app and it was a pain to b

MT76 Development for Flint 2?
Flint 2 has FEMs (front-end modules) that sit in between the Wi-Fi radios and the antennas to boost range. The mt76 driver supports these FEMs which allows maximum legal TX power for most countries on the Flint 2, but the MTK driver/OEM firmware will often boost the signal using the FEMs to above th

Shots fired (back) feat. UTR
From PERSONAL experience trying these devices, yes, I can say that the Mudi 7 is a significantly better product. I have PERSONALLY used WiFi 7 on a certain device while traveling. You seem to think that the only time it is used on hotel WiFi. What about coworking spaces where you can use RJ-45? Some

OpenWrt Two release date? New information?
AFAIK the only info so far is the one from the voting. Spec: * MT7988 * 10G SFP * 5G copper * 4 port 2.5G copper * 1-2 port 1G copper * Tri-band Wi-Fi 7 "Two" will be produced by GL.iNet and we are exploring options for US/EU based distribution. "Two" will (hopefully) be in the 250$ region with yet again

Anyone secretly nomading with their company laptop? What happened?
It isn't that difficult to do if you use the right equipment. I highly recommend GL.iNet routers for doing it. This site does a walk through of it: https://thewirednomad.com/vpn I would use the Flint 2 at home and a Slate 7 or Beryl AX for the travel side. Make sure you setup goodcloud on the router

SQM speeds
Flint 2 definitely won't support your full line speed with SQM in software. However, 600 Mbps is a bit on the low side, it should be able to do 900 Mbps or so with packet steering and irqbalance. What is the actual firmware running on your Flint 2? The default firmware is GL.iNET's closed source for
