I have a GL.iNet Flint router, which sadly only has a snapshot of OpenWrt. Not anymore. It's supported as of release 25.12: https://downloads.openwrt.org/releases/25.12.0/targets/qualcommax/ipq60xx/ Look for glinet_gl-ax1800-squashfs-factory.bin in the list. Can AdGuard Home be installed on the offi

Travel Router for Tailscale and VPN with Preferably Camouflaging Capabilities
Tailscale support (to connect back to my home network) https://docs.gl-inet.com/router/en/4/interface_guide/tailscale/ Something to be mindful of: Tailscale implementation is half baked, so much that someone from the community had to fix it https://www.reddit.com/r/GlInet/comments/1rohrna/enhanced_tai

Firmware 4.9 Questions
"Many older GL.iNet models are still receiving security patches and maintenance updates even if they aren’t getting headline features." I was surprised when I saw my AR300M getting an update last yr. But on the flip side, my Beryl, Flint 2, Brume, etc have not been updated in over a year. I'm not ev

Suggestion for Modem and Router
Since you're buying your own equipment, I'd definitely get seperate devices like you're planning. It gives you more flexibility if you ever need to replace or upgrade one piece later. For modems, I'd look at the Arris S33 or the Hitron CODA56. Both support DOCSIS 3.1, can handle gigabit plans withou

Directly connecting VPN to WiFi router?
I use a GL.iNet Flint 2 and have multiple profiles (3 different vpns) running. One for max privacy (Mullvad), one for port forwarding, and one for general use (a personal vps so I have minimal latency gaming without having to deal with my own isp). It works amazingly. I don’t have super high speed c

Anyone secretly nomading with their company laptop? What happened?
It isn't that difficult to do if you use the right equipment. I highly recommend GL.iNet routers for doing it. This site does a walk through of it: https://thewirednomad.com/vpn I would use the Flint 2 at home and a Slate 7 or Beryl AX for the travel side. Make sure you setup goodcloud on the router

Se for

First travel router to accompany the day
Di rumah pake GL.iNet Flint 2. Memang terbaik nih router. Wireguard nya kencang, bisa set VPN tertentu per device. Install zapret gampang. Sampai sekarang masih awet.

Aging router upgrade advice
If you are happy with your single all-in-one, there's no need to go with a mesh system. There's nothing "better" about it, it's usefulness is extending wifi coverage when you can't or won't wire an access point. Here are some suggestions within your budget. WiFi 7 router with per network VPN support
GL.iNet routers run OpenWRT, which supports VLANs, VPN client and policy-based routing. The Flint 2 would be a good option. All UniFi routers (gateways) do as well. The UDR7 or UX7 would be good options with WiFi. pfSense software running on a PC will also do all the above, but you'd need a separate
