New to Hunting, what e-collar would you recommend?

That collar is probably fine assuming it's waterproof. I believe e collar technologies is a bit less popular with the hunting crowds than they are with pet people. 0.5 miles is about 800 yards, but it will be less effective with obstructions. That said - my logic - with all the time, effort, care, e

Dog Tracker - tried Pawfit & Tractive

That 'open field' signal loss is the classic 'data vs. marketing' trap of 2026. From analyzing thousands of performance reviews for my pet tech project, your GSD's neck position is almost certainly the culprit. Here is the reality of why those trackers are failing you: The 'Biological Shield': You'r

First solo snowboarding trip. What do I need to make sure my wife can know where I am in case something happens?

The Garmin watch is probably the better option here, but dog-tracking gps collars might also be worth looking into. Just attach it to your gear or something. I don't know how accurate the location is, but they're used by hunters to track their dogs so I assume that the weather and battery aspects ha

FB marketplace find, should I buy it?

I think Id pass on this particular unit. The GPS band on the collar is taped up and no stimulation. The 320 is decent but not what I would pay for the unit. Kinda of weird to throw a Sportdog lanyard on a Garmin so tells me they have been through a couple systems. Just looks rough in my opinion.

RF vs GPS tracking

I'm a long time Garmin users and consider them the top tier...not flawless, but the pros vastly outweigh the cons. Garmin uses GPS in the collar and the handheld, but uses unlicensed RF between the collar and the remote. So you rely on the RF signal to know where your dog is I have the alpha 300i, w

tracking collar rec

It really depends on your budget. If you want something premium, then Garmin Alpha 10 might be one of the better options on the market. But you have to consider a price of $400 for the handheld, plus some $200 for the collar. What you get is a compact device that fits in your pocket and points you t

New to Hunting, what e-collar would you recommend?

It has basically the same capability as the pro 550 plus in that it's got an arrow pointing at the dogs but the user experience with the buttons is worse. There are some improved functions like putting a dog's name into the handheld and "starting a hunt" so you can track your activity, mostly just t

E collar for training advice

I use Garmin TT15x with an Alpha 200i. Its one of the more expensive setups but well worth the investment. Theres no recurring GPS subscription fees or anything. The handheld device has a lot of customization and settings so it does require a bit of setup. Ive had the handheld Alpha 200i device for

Pet sitters and going away

That sounds like a better option for more peace of mind. My dogs have taken a lot less walks because this winter was so frigid, more toys and indoor activities helped a lot to keep them enriched. As for the Fi collar, I admittedly and thankfully have not had to use the Lost Dog mode. The only time m

Dog sitter sent a photo of my dog and he had this collar on.

We’ve invested thousands of dollars and countless hours into our dog’s training. He is e-collar trained, primarily for recall (vizsla from a long line of proven and focused hunters - exactly what we wanted, but the “ears off” setting when he catches a scent is so real lol), but we invested in a high
