Tracking collar recs?
Garmin has an e collar with tracking that has a pretty far range. it won’t automatically correct but you could do it yourself on the controller. I also have a fi collar that shows general location but isn’t as accurate I feel

E collar recommendations
Garmin alpha 100 is what I use, the 200 came out right after I got mine and it looks to be even better. I think they have a few different versions of it out now. Massive range, great tracking and it has tone, stim(nip and constant), vibe. We use the tone for long range recall, nip for reinforcement

Exercise + enrichment for puppy
I would say with our boys the chuck it balls were and still are our first boys thing. He would fetch to the point of exhaustion. I would highly recommend a e collar and garmin being the better one to get. The off leash and fetch did wonders at the end of the day and made him pure muscle. This breed

Gos collar
We use a garmin GPS collar on both of ours (like the ones a lot of hunters use). They’re great, but expensive. You can track them up to 9 miles and the collars can beep, vibrate, and shock. We trained ours that the beep means come back. The vibrate is basically used as a deterrent or if they’re lock

Overland and dogs.....
My Mal comes everywhere with me (partly because it’s hard to find a dog sitter and mostly because she’s my favorite travel buddy) and the best advice I have is to start early. We started car trips and mini camping trips when she was a puppy so she could get used to sleeping in the tent or the truck.

GPS Track and Train
I’ve actually got 2 systems. Garmin Pro 550 with PT10. And then the Garmin Alpha 10 with T20. Reason being is I have my dog on an e-collar for a lot of things that isn’t hunting (walking around town, off leash in the park, roaming in the woods next to my house, etc.) where I don’t need a big ol’ ant

Advice on e-collars?
Dealer/User of both here. If you're introducing the e-collar and wanting to use it as a training collar and GPS, go with the Garmin Pro550+. The Pathfinder 2 is a good unit, but in training scenarios your timing to change stim levels, etc. is severely limited by the handheld and the need to utilize

Force-free training? Or punishment (shock on e collar) for disobeying
Do yourself a favor and buy this book if you are going to implement an e-collar. E collar without conflict for pets and working dogs by eric stanbro. If the dog isnt properly introduced and conditioned to the ecollar it will make your problems way worse. I believe balanced training is the correct me

New to hunting dogs.
Drill recall as much as you can while you are out in the woods. Roads kill dogs and squirrels and rabbits and deer run with out fear. I have an e collar while I hunt for the gps but it also beeps vibrates and can shock. I have my dog trained to recall on the beep, vibrate to correct, then small shoc
