E collar recommendations

Garmin alpha 100 is what I use, the 200 came out right after I got mine and it looks to be even better. I think they have a few different versions of it out now. Massive range, great tracking and it has tone, stim(nip and constant), vibe. We use the tone for long range recall, nip for reinforcement

Gos collar

We use a garmin GPS collar on both of ours (like the ones a lot of hunters use). They’re great, but expensive. You can track them up to 9 miles and the collars can beep, vibrate, and shock. We trained ours that the beep means come back. The vibrate is basically used as a deterrent or if they’re lock

GPS Track and Train

I’ve actually got 2 systems. Garmin Pro 550 with PT10. And then the Garmin Alpha 10 with T20. Reason being is I have my dog on an e-collar for a lot of things that isn’t hunting (walking around town, off leash in the park, roaming in the woods next to my house, etc.) where I don’t need a big ol’ ant

Advice on e-collars?

Dealer/User of both here. If you're introducing the e-collar and wanting to use it as a training collar and GPS, go with the Garmin Pro550+. The Pathfinder 2 is a good unit, but in training scenarios your timing to change stim levels, etc. is severely limited by the handheld and the need to utilize

Dog Tracker Choice

I live in Maine with 3 dogs that hike with me often. For every-day use, i.e. they wear it all the time, I use Fi collars. The upside is if you have cellular signal they work pretty well with battery life of 2-3 weeks. The downsides are that if you have spotty or no cell signal, the collars are essen

Overland and dogs.....

My Mal comes everywhere with me (partly because it’s hard to find a dog sitter and mostly because she’s my favorite travel buddy) and the best advice I have is to start early. We started car trips and mini camping trips when she was a puppy so she could get used to sleeping in the tent or the truck.

Canine Tracker?

Depends on where you reside. If you’re in a heavy populated area then apple tags are fine. They ping off nearby iPhones but that also means if you’re a frequent camper of goer they aren’t the best. If you’re rural or an avid outdoors person then gps collars are the way to go. Tractive and Garmin bot

lifetime dog owner and we got our first black & tan/bluetick rescue last year. Been returned to its foster mom a couple times. Training her has been exhausting but she's a sweetheart. tracking collar rec

It really depends on your budget. If you want something premium, then Garmin Alpha 10 might be one of the better options on the market. But you have to consider a price of $400 for the handheld, plus some $200 for the collar. What you get is a compact device that fits in your pocket and points you t

Tracking system recommendations

If you’re a Garmin guy, look at the Pro550+ instead of an Alpha set up. Additionally, for less than an Alpha 300, you could look at the 200i or 200+. If you don’t need the maps in your handheld, the pro550+ is the best value for the money. The pathfinder 2 is a good option as well, we sell a bunch o
