Gaggia Classic Pro - Texas edition

Hi All First time poster, long time lurker… I’ve been overhauling a neglected 2019 Gaggia classic Pro which has sat for a while. It was my first coffee machine that pulled me down the rabbit hole some 7 years ago… went on to a Quick Mill Pippa and then onto my current daily driver, a Rocket Appartam

What’s the best bang for your buck: espresso machines [2024]

used gaggia classic pro is prob the best bang for buck imo. built like a tank, easy to mod later if u get obsessed, and holds resale value. paired with a decent grinder it’ll easily give you real espresso without spending breville dual boiler money. for something simpler, the breville bambino or bam

Gift for medical student

This is what my husband bought to help himself through residency. We landed with a gaggia classic pro and it’s still going almost 10 years later. We’ve saved a lot of money on lattes haha. A bit of a learning curve but a fun hobby in a way.

If La Marzocco is the Ferrari of espresso machines, what is your machine like?

I don’t think the Gaggia is a civic. It’s more like a Fiat 124 Spider. It’s simple, it’s beautiful, it’s Italian, it feels like a Ferrari when you use it. But it’s a budget sports car. And it recently got a refresh (GCP). Add Gaggimate and it’s like a Fiat Spider with Waymo hardware. The civic is a

What espresso machine did you start on, and would you recommend it to a beginner today?

Gaggia classic pro, yes it would. Honestly you can just get it and never get another machine.

Without any bias, with all facts considered, do boiler espresso machines produce better coffee than thermoblock machines?

A 50ml boiler for 40ml shots will do that... GCP was good 15 years ago when there was $400 Gaggia or the much more expensive 4-figure E61 group option. Now we've got loads of good machines to choose from.

Can someone just tell me what to buy for my fiancee? Budget is unknown but lets say [$500]+ ish?

Gaggia Classic Pro is all manual. Reliable and easy to upgrade. Pair it with a Baratza Encore ESP. That’s about $800.

Is a fully kitted Gaggia as good as higher priced espresso machines?

A fully modded Gaggia Classic Pro can produce excellent espresso, especially if you’ve added a PID, upgraded the steam wand, and improved temperature stability. However, even with all the upgrades, it’s still a single boiler machine. That means you can’t brew and steam at the same time, and you’ll n

What's the cheapest machine that can make acceptable milk drinks?(Not picky)[$<500?]

GCP (gaggia classic pro) is exactly $500 before tax + shipping. Wonderful machine that you can get a ton out of if you treat it well. Was my first “real” espresso machine, absolute workhorse for many years before I upgraded. I’m sure you’ll get the usual “grinder is more important” comments which ar

I analyzed +4,000 r/espresso set-up flairs. The median setup costs $2.8k, the Bambino reigns supreme, and people are running a $4,000 grinder with a $300 machine. Here is the data.

I've owned a AUD$450 machine then a AUD$3k machine and sold both and now have a Gaggia Classic Pro. As a goldilocks solution it's wicked!! It's a machine you can work on which counts for a lot, save HEAPS $$$ for servicing. You can trick it to really improve it beyond standard too. I already had a R
