I have a Fellow Opus and an Ode Gen 2, which do I return and which do I keep?

I also have both and, like you, do not plan on buying an espresso machine. But I've had a lot of fun experimenting between a conical (Opus) vs. a flat (Ode 2) burr grinder. So I'm keeping both for now to experiment with different styles of coffee. The Opus was a great deal when I bought my Fellow Ai

Timemore Bricks

tbh, at this point, the Fellow Opus 2 might be a better bet - for multiple reasons (customer support better quality, technical specs better, and well-suitable for a filter coffee too - also the price $200) but yeah, the Bricks is basically a grinder mainly for espresso (has a small conical burr, 40

Really struggling with a Geisha Natural

I know this is old, but to current and future readers, 6 to 7 is pretty fine on the opus. I use 10 with the internal setting fully open and get great results. I only drink light roasts and use this same grind for pour over, aeropress and moccamaster. I've got a fellow stagg ekg and use temps of 200

Should I keep my timemore s3

would not shim, the S3 burr design is not really great for espresso, unless a pressurized basket is used - which is not the "true" espresso really hand grinders are generally not that great for espresso, grinding always takes time and effort and might be inconsistent between shots, depending on how

DF54 vs Fellow Opus Gen 2

I just had my df64 gen 1 die after 3 years of service. The threads bound up and the collar needed to be cut off to salvage the burrs. My roommate has the fellow opus gen 1. I would say that for espresso the fellow opus gen 1 was entirely incapable of anything lighter than a darker medium roast. The

DF54 vs Fellow Opus Gen 2

It’s in the weeds for sure and a lot comes down to preference. The fellow opus is an entry level electric grinder at the same price as a manual hand grinder. It has options for espresso and options for coarse grinds for pour over, so it’s multifunctional. I never even considered the burr type or siz

[MOD] The Daily Question Thread

Your best bets are: Eureka Mignon Zero - good for single dosing coffees, small and compact and all around for espresso and drip Eureka Silenzio 55- best for an all around espresso but same burr as the Mignon Zero. This one just has a hopper and has a grinder timer. Baratza ESP - Baratza's answer for

Is it worth getting a Fellow Ode if I already have a DF54?

your DF54 likely has the stock burr, if you use it for espresso - not brew burr. If that burr is similar to the burr in the DF64V, which I know, then it is not a very good burr for pourover, and with another grinder, more pourover focused, you can likely expect some improvement agree that hand grind

Grinder Advice [$500]

I’m in the same boat! Currently switching between espresso on a Bambino Plus and V60. I have the Fellow Opus which - while it does manage both - I can’t help feel it does neither brilliantly. I see the DF64 recommended a lot in your price range, unsure if it’s ideal for pourover though. I’m looking

Eureka Mignon Specialita or Timemore C2 for V60

Eureka Mignon Specialita is a traditional (dark-roast) espresso grinder, not very suitable for specialty pourovers... also, you don't want to change the grind adjustment frequently, between esp and PO - so, keep that one for the espresso, its grind is not gonna be better than the C2. If you no longe
