Agree. Fellow products look great on my countertop. But the Opus grinder clogged terribly on espresso grinds, and their customer service was equally terrible. The electric kettle is good enough for my kids and me, but it would be nice to have more ability to fine-tune the temps. And so on. I was ini

3 1Zpresso J-ultra (my first grinder). Amazing for espresso and travel. I use it all the time. Varia VS3 v. 2 with Hypernova Ultra-S burrs (it’s been great no problems and it has the small power brick) Fellow Opus. Picked it up in FB marketplace for $100. Couldn’t pass it up. I don’t use it much. Bu

If you have the money, the DF64 is solid. I use a fellow opus and it works extremely well.

I know this is old, but to current and future readers, 6 to 7 is pretty fine on the opus. I use 10 with the internal setting fully open and get great results. I only drink light roasts and use this same grind for pour over, aeropress and moccamaster. I've got a fellow stagg ekg and use temps of 200

The espresso machine doesn't have to be fancy. They're just pushing water through coffee grounds and even the cheapest ones do 20 bar. You don't need more than 9 bar. I'd ask you if you really like espresso first. Also, where are you getting your beans from? Most people who get into it only do so af

If you don’t want to jump into a big rabbit hole - pick whatever that is quite popular, have support and people like coffee from it. Fellow Opus 2 coming soon and might be the best (esthetic, support, grind quality. Redesigned from scratch so lots of expectations) Not obvious choice, but interesting

The Ode Gen 2 is great for pour over. And you can upgrade the burrs if you like. It pairs well with the Aiden precision brewer, which is better at pour over than I am. People have reported that a blind shaker fits well as a catch cup for the Ode grinders. If you land on a specific shaker, I would be

if its new, the discount / clearance sale is probably happening because the new Opus 2 (from USD 200 - 250) is underway (edit to add: also see this post ) if its not new, someone wants to upgrade :) Opus 2 is a complete rework of the original Opus, that should have issues of the Opus 1 resolved - se

the hand grinders you mention for espresso are both more expensive, than the Opus 2 is supposed be, and clearly have the same disadvantages of hand-grinding for espresso - so I do not really understand your reasoning... you will not save any money with an expensive, espresso suitable hand grinder, a
