if you need a boox palma BW take a look at durobo with their krono. It's an alternative made by a European company, but the screen is made by onyx (and google even recognises it as a boox device) It has a similar issue as the viwoods since it has AI functions, but it's the closest thing to a BW palm

I think the ideal device would have offline, button activated voice recording and transcription in addition to note taking with a stylus. You could try the Durobo Krono. It’s essentially a Palma 2 with Android 15 and a scroll wheel. I have one and am very happy with it.
