if you need a boox palma BW take a look at durobo with their krono. It's an alternative made by a European company, but the screen is made by onyx (and google even recognises it as a boox device) It has a similar issue as the viwoods since it has AI functions, but it's the closest thing to a BW palm

You could try the Durobo Krono. It’s essentially a Palma 2 with Android 15 and a scroll wheel. I have one and am very happy with it.

If you're locked into KU and aren't able to readily convert things on an actual computer, then I don't really think this is the best device for you. You also would never be able to "send" from a Kindle to this device. I would look at the Boox Palma 2 or the DuRoBo Krono. Both of those would allow yo
