I'm guessing you're in the states? If you're scouting for these types of clearance deals, I'd check around TjMaxx, Marshalls, and Home goods. You might be able to score a Breville bambino, bambino plus, barista express, barista pro, or even one of the touch/oracles but those are significantly more.

The problem with espresso machines with built-in grinders is that the grinders are of poor quality. When brewing espresso, the grinder is the most important part of the setup, much more important than the brewer. Yea it’s better to have grinder and machine separate but for simplicity, I think the sage/breville barista express is the best. You have to look at tj maxx or Marshall’s to find it for $500 though.

At your price point its a bit of a compromise. Breville Barista Express is fine, an easy and convenient workflow but at some point you will want to another grinder. I just did a ton of research as a beginner and I went with the Breville Bambino Plus ($400) and the Baratza Encore ESP ($200). I’m having a blast and making some of the best coffee I’ve ever had. Another option is indeed the Barista Express. I didn’t go with this one because I wanted a better grinde
