This is already an issue, just because a router is 1Gbit, doesnt mean its processor can handle that throughput, case in point my old Asus RT-AC68U. It is a gigabit router, but throughput with features turned on max out the CPU and you only get about 700mbit from the WAN. Lots of people with old jank

AC68U is near identical to AC66U_B1, so that checks. Haven't tried it, though. Went with the alternative fresh tomato instead.

What else is in front of the AC-68u? The ISP speeds you’re talking about (1,000 —> 1,200 Mbps) sound like DOCSIS cable speeds, so is there a cable modem (or ISP router in bridge mode) sitting in front? For simplicity, I will call this device a modem (even though it may be an ISP gateway device) sinc

The lan wifi is horrible. I connected an old asus ac68u and have much better .... lan activity. I just upgrade from the sagecom to the g5ar and the local lan is to say the least.. a cluster fuck. The wan speeds are faster to the tmo internet... but after a week of lan work with the g5ar I am having

I have two RT-AC68u routers and I eventually had to auto schedule weekly reboots because of that. No matter how many updates Asus came out with, it never got better. I finally switched to opnsense for a router this year and use my AC68u in AP mode for wireless and now I don't have to do reboots. Eve

Ive had one for a while too - until area offered 2Gig Fiber - so i needed to upgrade the router since ports were only 1gig (and everything else in the house also eneded refreshing to support to at least 2.5g) to achieve advertised speeds; So I ended up getting into pfsense on a minipc with dual SFP+

When j looked it up a while back they said openwrt somehow doesn't support ac68U's with radio. Haven't followed up on that as that really didn't bother me much. I have 5 mx3800 that gives full WiFi 6 coverage of my home. I don't need more WiFi 5 signal to crowd the airwaves. I chose Batman in the be
