If that Asus is the RT-AC68U then it's at least meshable if you buy a newer Asus router to use as your main router. That's one of the things that I like about using AiMesh. You can get a better router, and still put your old one to work somewhere else in the house. My current RT-AX68U Pro replaced b

"My ASUS RT-AC68U seems to be limiting the speed on 2.4 GHz — I can’t even get close to 100 Mbps"- Thats about right. Practical speeds on 2.4GHz are about 50ish Mbps using default settings. Want higher speeds? Use 5GHz.

Most more-than-basic wireless routers will allow you to set up your network the way you want it. You can assimilate all bands into the same SSID or you can separate your 2.4G and 5G networks (and 6G for Wifi 7) into different SSIDs. If you assign SSIDs like your previous wireless router (and use the

The lan wifi is horrible. I connected an old asus ac68u and have much better .... lan activity. I just upgrade from the sagecom to the g5ar and the local lan is to say the least.. a cluster fuck. The wan speeds are faster to the tmo internet... but after a week of lan work with the g5ar I am having

I replaced my ancient AC-68U with an ASUS RT-BE86U and in the mean time, sent it back. Either for repair or for a refund. For a device that is about 12 years newer, it was just awful. It was actually worse than the old Asus router: Many devices often lost the connection (tables, raspis, phones, tvs,

I own a bunch of Ubiquiti gear (but not any of their APs) and while it works great you do need to be a lot more comfortable managing your network than you do with consumer-oriented gear like Asus. I'd suggest looking at mesh Wi-Fi systems where you get multiple APs and can place them as needed for b

Get the Wi-Fi gen that supports most of your devices. At home, about 90% of our devices are Wi-Fi 5. We've been using the RT-AC68U (identical to AC-1900) for about 8 years now without any issues. Can still get good Wi-Fi between 3-4 walls. However, be aware of recent "backdoors" warnings with Asus r

Ahhh ok makes sense. There’s another comment, about getting the u7 in wall version - I don’t know about specs as hard to do comparisons But I have a zen wifi in the living room and office Upstairs is covered by 1 ac68u - and is pretty poor tbh We usually have to turn off the wifi (on phones) upstair

I did a factory reset, didn't really help. I moved my old ASUS RT-AC68U to the basement and even devices from the 1. floor got a much better and stable wifi connection to this old router 2 floors and accross the building than to the new BE68U which is directly below them. I just sent a feedback form
