Thoughts on Clawboxes???

Open claw runs on a $70 raspberry pi. You don't need a Mac mini m4 for that. If you want to run 8b or 16b parameter LLM locally that's when you need a Mac mini m4 with descent RAM

why i chose the m4 mac mini

Im about to trade my M1pro MBP 16GB/1TB for an M4 24GB/2TB Mac Mini, i almost always use external displays anyways, and i think is a great device.

I wanted OpenClaw to work. After 3 months, I’m done.

M4 Mac mini has crazy value for the price, you can get a silent device thats extremely power efficient with a m4 chip and 16gb of unified memory for £500, nothing at that price point can compete

M4 32gb 512gb or M4 pro 24gb 512gb

Pro has much faster RAM AND SSD .. NO EXTERNAL DRIVE WILL READ/WRITE FASTER THAN AN INTERNAL SSD as internal SSD is used in most if not all regular writes/reads. In a Mac, file caching occurs in both RAM and on the SSD. 256 GB SSD writes at 1,500-2,000 MB/s. It will constrain effective speed of USB4

Should I really get a new mac or use my m1 till its last breath?

Local llms need a lot of ram and storage so even if you get the latest Mac with low amount of ram also is a problem. If running proper local llms, I would advise getting a Mac mini m4 with minimum 32 gb of ram

Just wondered whether i should get a new Neo or buy a refurbished pro retina for £400?

No. Do not buy an 8GB RAM MacBook Neo for Logic Pro. But unless it has more than 16GB RAM do not buy Intel MacBook Pro either. If you plan to dual boot Windows for any reason…. Maybe. I would rather just buy a refurb Mac Mini M4 instead

Does anyone know if Apple is actually planning to better optimize its use of Apple Silicon cores in Logic Pro ?

It’s pretty optimized, I’m not sure what you mean here. Audio processing isn’t always best handled by parallel processing on multiple cores. It’s critical when recording audio that everything happens sequentially and single cores do that more reliably. RAM is going to be the thing that makes the dif

M4 Pro Mini

I’m jealous!! I got the base M4 Pro Mac Mini last year and I love it. But to have 64GB RAM and 2TB storage would be awesome!! And especially not having to pay the vary large price for that config. Nice!

Microsoft just deleted Windows 11's 32GB RAM recommendation docs, as prices soar and it rushes to sell 8GB RAM PCs

I have a new Mac Mini M4 (16gb RAM, 512gb storage) and honestly its a really nice system. Granted it can't really be up upgraded but for what it cost its very effective and pleasant to use. I was on a PC running Win 11 and I am very glad to be free of that shitshow. I did try upgrading the PC by ins
